I was cycling down the road today in a nice area and a car stopped in front had to wait for me to pass in order to fully open his door. He was on the phone at the time and said "i gotta wait for da bitch to pass"
Coincidentally today I also heard a friend say in a jovial manner that she was going shopping with 'ma bitches' today. BTW she is a school teacher!

I know this is sometimes said in jest but I find it repugnant especially when women refer jokingly to other women as 'ma bitches'

pimp? seller of women's bodies?

niiiiiiice.

What is wrong with people? What is so attractive about this type of behaviour? I don't understand why it is seen as 'cool'.

TooBlessed2spendxmasalone · 05/12/2010 18:30

ok,,

HecTheHallsWithBoughsOfHolly · 05/12/2010 18:31

Doesn't that sign mean "someone's on the phone for you." ?

scoobytoo · 05/12/2010 18:34

I was always surprised at the mainstream female following of Eminem bearing in mind he called women whores...at least I think he did.

People always say oh yeah AmAzing lyrics...I'm thinking What!

" I got 99 problems but the bitch ain't one"

That song makes me soooooooo mad.

Although in Jay-zee's defence that is one of the things I have least issue with concerning him and his "bitch"

Ah, I could rant for hours...

scoobytoo · 05/12/2010 18:56

Is that beyonce's Jay zee?

in my family we usually the word to describe female dogs, though, whilkst in our cups - a group of people can be referred to as 'ma niggaz' or indeed 'beetches' but very tongue in cheek..

dertitude · 05/12/2010 23:19

Its come out of the supposed "gangster" rap scene

scoobytoo · 06/12/2010 13:35

Whatever the reason it's quite disgusting

OP posts:
Pinkieminx · 06/12/2010 13:44

IMHO anyone using these terms to descrie themselves in an ironic way is a bit thick or wholeheartedly missing the point. 'ma niggaz', 'beetches' to me are NOT tounge in chhek - just ignorant.

Anyone mistakenly calling me a 'bitch' as a 'joke' would fully understand how I felt on the subject - maybe even giving them a reason to seriously call me a bitch!

laserel · 06/12/2010 13:48

I think it sounds ridiculous and is pretty horrible.
Bna- does your sister do it to his face?

badcoverversion · 06/12/2010 14:15

The 'bitch' in 99 Problems has a deeper meaning...he's actually referring to a dog used to detect narcotics and the choice of lyrics are deliberately intended to perpetuate the gangster/hoodlum stereotype.

The song recounts an incident where he was pulled over by white police detectives and questioned/berated for no real reason.

If you're going to slag off a song for being demeaning towards women then "Bitches aint shit" by Dr. Dre would be the obvious choice. I'm personally a fan of the song and the Ben Folds cover is suitably quirky and amusing.

I guess the word just doesn't bother me in general, so to me YAB a tad U.

mayorquimby · 06/12/2010 14:48

Is it ok if I use it purely as an insult?

mayorquimby · 06/12/2010 14:54

Oh and as pointed out already Jay-Z's problem is about the K-9 unit so literally bitches.

EdgarAllenSnow · 06/12/2010 15:28

ignorant of what exactly pinkieminx ?
