by the homemade decoration Dd1 has just proudly hung from my wonderful Christmas tree.

It's making me twitch.

hmmSleep · 05/12/2010 10:51

It's still there, I'm sure it's glaring at me in a mocking fashion.

ilovemyfestivehens · 05/12/2010 10:52

Does it resemble something from a horror movie?

I've had those too Grin

Gotta love 'em! Grin

hmmSleep · 05/12/2010 11:45

It's certainly the stuff of nightmares.

She just took it upon herself to go off and make it, then put it on MY our tree. How very dare she!

LittleMissHoHoHoFit · 05/12/2010 15:44

Aw bless! Move it to the back of the tree Display it proudly. Xmas Grin

overmydeadbody · 05/12/2010 15:49

This is why DS has his own (cheapo little fake) christmas tree in his room.

He can string whatever he fancies onto it without me twitching.

kreecherlivesupstairs · 05/12/2010 15:50

I'd be quite happy to rehang Rudolph'sbollock an interesting spherical one that DD made in nursery school, except, all our decorations have disappeared. I imagine they either got left behind in Switzerland or binned here in Belgium. either way, I need to go and buy a whole new set tomorrow. I will really miss the ones she made at school. We have a rather nice lots.

Galena · 05/12/2010 15:52

DD made her first this year at 19mo. It's proudly named and dated and displayed proudly. I'm sure once she's older we'll also be trying to hide them displaying them proudly.

sixpercenttruejedi · 05/12/2010 16:09

I have a decades worth of glittery xmas vomit fondly cherished items hanging on mine. Each year I tolerate treasure them even more. Will sob over them when she's too old want to make stuff anymore though.

Hassledge · 05/12/2010 16:12

I have to hang something blue on my tree every year Shock. My tree is strictly red and gold (ponce), but all you can actually focus on is the blue thing. It's basically a couple of lolly sticks stuck together with a face drawn on (it has a malevolent expression) by DS2 years ago, and then blue tinsel glued down badly. Most upsetting.

FakePlasticTrees · 05/12/2010 16:19

OP - we need a photo! How bad is it?

Errmmmm · 05/12/2010 16:20

My dh thinks I'm very mean because I refuse to hang home made tat children's decorations on the tree.

I mean, if I let them do that they might want to put tinsel on it or something too! No good can come of it, wherever would it end? Shock

MrsMoosickle · 05/12/2010 16:21

Love this thread. First one I've laughed at on here in days Xmas Grin

Vanillacandle · 05/12/2010 16:32

Hi hmmSleep !

YANBU - it completely wrecks the look of enhances the beauty of your tree and decoration scheme to have such gluey bits of tat lovingly hand-crafted items strung all over it!

I suggest you quietly feed it to the dog move it gradually out of prime position, or buy her a little tree of her own that she can "decorate" with all her own work.

How's the snow with you, btw?

Vanillacandle · 05/12/2010 16:34

Sorry, haven't got the hang of these emphasis thingies - lets try:

wrecks the look of

gluey bits of tat

feed it to the dog

Any better?

hmmSleep · 05/12/2010 16:44

Hi Vanillacandle, thankfully bloody snow is finally melting Grin. I even smile rather wickedly watching the Dcs' snowman slowly wither away.

I'll take a photo of the hideous delightful decoration and post it later.

OP posts:
hmmSleep · 05/12/2010 16:50

Oh, and they do have a little tree of their own in the playroom, apparently it's not good enough Hmm for her very special adornment, I felt it fitted the purpose perfectly.

OP posts:
hmmSleep · 05/12/2010 17:03

Look I mean just LOOK!!

OP posts:
Errmmmm · 05/12/2010 17:05

That looks suspiciously like one of the fairy lights might set fire to it...

Galena · 05/12/2010 17:11

I've seen worse!

taintedsnow · 05/12/2010 17:12

I quite like it! Xmas Grin

hmmSleep · 05/12/2010 17:21

taintedsnow, You like it Shock, It's a bit of paper with string, not even gold thread but STRING, SELLOTAPED to the back!

OP posts:
taintedsnow · 05/12/2010 17:25

Haha, I think it's because this is my first Christmas with a child, and therefore I am not saturated with child-made crap loveliness yet. Ask me about it next year....poor DN will be living with Mrs Scrooge....Xmas Grin

Sisqinanamook · 05/12/2010 17:29

I am so glad I am not the only heartless mum who can no longer fully enjoy her beautiful tree due to hideous personal extras.

DuffyMoon · 05/12/2010 17:35

My dd's are 15 and 12 now....I cant put the stuff they made when they were little on the tree ....it makes me cry Blush

Enjoy it Xmas Grin

ChippingIn · 05/12/2010 17:40

You misery!

My Mum still has some decorations on the tree that I made when I was little, they are lovingly stored from year to year and proudly put back on the tree. I'm glad I didn't biff them out like I wanted to when I was a teenager.

I know it's a lighthearted thread, but it's actually made me quite sad. How you would feel if they weren't here to make them for you next year....

If you don't love them - send them to me.

{Either the kids or the decorations Xmas Grin]
