Lady in the 'Handbasket' queue with TWO baskets- outrageous behaviour?

Just been to Morrisons in my lunch-hour. It was rammed- think all the pensioners are stocking up 'cos of the snow! Joined the handbasket queue and the woman in front, when she reached the conveyor belt, said "Excuse me I have another basket over there" and ran to pick it up before returning to her space. Must admit I was so gobsmacked I was speechless. She kept the whole queue of doddery pensioners waiting while she unloaded them both, as well as all the catfood from under her arms!

Talk about not playing by the rules...

'Old. Twas you wasn't it? Next time I'll kick you in the muff, alright?'

LaurieFairyonthetreeEatsCake · 01/12/2010 10:32

It's ten items or fewer

kreecherlivesupstairs · 01/12/2010 10:35

I have found that these queues move the slowest. In my not very scientific observation, if you have 7 people with just a basked compared with two people with 15 items in their trolly it is much quicker to go behind trolly people.
I need to get out more I think.

Round here she would have been told to sod off, there was once a guy in the 10 items or less who piled about 15 items on, and then argued it would be quicker for the items to be scanned and him be on his way, then it would to put it all back in the basket, so the assistant turned round to everyone else and asked "would you mind waiting while he puts all his stuff back in the basket?", and so he slowly put everything in the basket and sodded off, muttering.

Totally outrageous, but I like her style. Grin

Hullygully · 01/12/2010 10:47

I have never ever heard anything like it

Hanging's too good

nancydrewrockinaroundxmastree · 01/12/2010 11:05

laurie I know it should be "10 items or fewer" but in M&S it is "10 items or less".

Hence my use of quotation marks. Could be a whole different thread...and I believe it has been on ocassion Grin

BeenBeta · 01/12/2010 13:08

Is it really 10 items or less in M&S?

Oh dear, I didnt know that. Blush

The death stares I must have unwittingly generated.

gramercy · 01/12/2010 13:20

In Winchester it definitely says "10 items or FEWER". Because I almost emitted an involuntary cheer.

lexxity · 01/12/2010 13:27

That's not being cheeky. What's being cheeky is the woman who whilst I was unloading my stuff onto the belt, came up behind me, started taking my stuff OFF and PUTTING HERS ON! To say she got both barrels was an understatement!

Butterbur · 01/12/2010 15:28

What was her response, Lexxity?

She started shouting and ranting at me! The checkout lady was gobsmacked and had to get the supervisor to come and take the lady away! This woman was instant that she was in the right! It's the maddest thing I've ever seen and I work for an airline so I've seen a few things in my time!

you'd LOVE me, i recently went to my auntie's local supermarket, and accidentally went in the basket queue with my trolley AND paid for my shopping and hers separately!!

cumfy · 03/12/2010 23:05

Have had:

Put divider on conveyor and start loading.

Twenty-something nips in front to add a couple of items apparently to go with "friend" to whom she stands close to.

Finish loading. Look around. Turn back to belt to see ......

little cuntess has inserted divider between her stuff and "friend's" to whom she is no longer standing close to!!!
