im just very annoyed that dds teacher would not let this go and she has pissed me off.

I tell dd 4.7 im 21 of course im not and this is obviouse. but her teacher told her I wasnt and thats something mummys say to make them feel better. Shock

through out last week dd has made a big issue over this. untill this morning I had to confess my real age to her as she says her teacher keeps telling her im not 21.

now that has ruinned my little joke and shattered my dds illusions.

DD2s teacher (who is in her 50s) always tells the children she's '21 and a bit'

My dc have no concept of age -
my dd asked my mum how old she was she said 54 (her true age), and my dd said matter of factly 'oh you'll be dead soon then'.

My dh and I have a large age gap, and my ds tells people that I am 49 and his dad his 94. The problem is people accept my age as being correct, and of course laugh off dh's. I'm not even in my 30s yet. Damn children aged me badly Grin

Teacher was foolish to discuss an area of insane female vanity. If someone is insecure enough to insist on being 21 for a decade or two, they may be unstable enough to make a huge fuss about someone breaking the fantasy.
Why go looking for a shit storm?

Goblinchild · 30/11/2010 17:54

My class once thought DD was older than me because she was taller.

TinselinaBumSquash · 30/11/2010 17:54

I had a friend who would swear blind that her Mum was only 25 when she was obviously not. Even now (15 years later) we still say 'oh its your mums birthday.. how old is she? 30 isn't it?' Grin Friend is very Blush

ChickFlit · 30/11/2010 17:56

I'm 39, my dad has been 21 all my life, to the point where I'm not really sure how old he is Blush - but he retired last year.

I tell my DC's and the children I teach that I'm 29, and they all tell me that's really old Grin, so I daren't tell them my real age.

when i was a teacher one of my co-workers used to try to be 'down with the kids' so i told them he was about 5 years older than he really was. the thing is, he then made the mistake of saying 'i'm 25' for 2 years running, so the kids believed ME when i told them he was 30 then 31. I left that school 2 years ago, and the kids there STILL think my age for him is right (34) but really he's about to turn 30.

YABU. Why shouldn't your 4 year old know how old you are,
