Where's the snow

Just checked the weather forecast and here in SW London we are supposed to be having heavy snow showers. Just looked out and it's wet and drizzly. AIBU to wish the dc were waking up to a winter wonderland - and possible a "snow day" for us all?

Envy

Off to wake the beasts. They're more interested in a day off at 15 and 11(so am I know it's wimpy but work is ugh at the moment) than the snow tbh. Disappointment to follow.

OMG it's getting light now and have just looked out - there's the teeniest, tiniest smattering of snow Grin but I haven't seen any fall.

DS just woke up and asked if its snowing. 'No', 'Oh I'll have to go to school then' was the reply Grin.

Met office has 'promised' snow from 12noon - who do I complain to if it doesn't happen Wink

StealthPolarBear · 30/11/2010 07:26

Looks like today might be slightly better for us - I really hope so

ChippingIn · 30/11/2010 07:27

Mumbar - Lapland in 18 days - great fun!!!

marriednotdead · 30/11/2010 07:30

Am in Saaf East London and it's here.

No chance of getting a day off so not impressed. Pah.

KaraStarbuckThrace · 30/11/2010 07:30

SPB - DH has decided to go into work to day.
Hope he makes it!!!

ChippingIn · 30/11/2010 07:31

Has anyone got BBC1 on? Do you think we might have an on screen birth?

StealthPolarBear · 30/11/2010 07:34

Sorry didn't mean that! But just no one has ever mentioned that sort of thing, no stories, no mention of it in "extreme weather" type articles. Wish I'd looked at the sky - I just thought - has someone flashed their lights outside t he front and back of the house at exaclty the same time :o and then the thunder started

mumbar · 30/11/2010 07:41

Oh Altinkum - are you feeling better now?

clam · 30/11/2010 07:42

mumbar how can the council say they are not closing schools this year? If there's a foot of snow outside and no staff can get in, what are they going to do about it?

WentBlank · 30/11/2010 07:43

In NLondon/Herts here - we have about 2cm of snow and it is still snowing ... waiting to hear from school... it will take me an hour to get in (usually takes 15 mins drive) ....I hate the snow

mumbar · 30/11/2010 07:44

Have no idea Clam!! Last year (this yr really!) we remained longer as its a special school and transport is provided by council - they wouldn't provide it Confused. Apparently they are going to clear all the roads surrounding all schools if it snows. We have all said great but what if you can't get out of your own road due to snow? Some teachers travel 10 miles +.

Madness I tell you - madness!! And a moot point as it won't blardy snow here. Wink

'snow is in the air, everywhere I look around' Unfortunatly its only in the air - and not much of it. But I'm slightly consoled and happy.

onceamai · 30/11/2010 08:11

It's here Grin but not settling too wet.

It's proper snowing here now in SE London.

DS is excited, but DD went out at 7.30 to catch her bus looking rather glum about the prospect of walking in the snow!
