YANBU. Sometimes people are just gratuitously unpleasant. And sometimes people start deliberately inflammatory threads or make deliberately inflammatory comments (and not ones justifiable by post-moder irony either). Now, that's not to say the rest of the net is all sweetness and light. You'd get it on any forum. But it does exist, and people having a go at the OP for mentioning it are only strengthening her perfectly reasonable observation.
