to expect that when you borrow someone's car

for a long weekend away, which saves you hiring a car, that you'd fill the tank (or mostly fill it) with fuel before returning it?

OP posts:
ChippyMinton · 28/11/2010 16:30

Would expect the same amount of petrol and a thank you, maybe a small gift. A tank of petrol in my car would cost £100 - you could actually hire a car for that so YABU.

corriefan · 28/11/2010 16:31

I would only expect what was used to be replenished and for the car to be returned in the same condition they got it in.

tummysgoingslowly · 28/11/2010 16:34

OK that's cool. I didn't factor how much it would cost to fill it (about £60).

ItalianLady - I didn't know, obviously! I'm nice, but not that stupid Grin

Sorry Tummy - I didn't think about it before I posted it - I shouldn't have said anything. I was just so Shock that you were even thinking about petrol when the guy has been such a complete wanker.

If you ring that bastard I will have to come and throttle you myself. You are worth so much more than this cheating wanker! FFS he borrowed your car to go and fuck someone else! Think of that anytime you are tempted to ring him!!

tummysgoingslowly · 28/11/2010 16:43

Oh no post away! I'm chuffed that you remembered!

Everything seems like it's going swimmingly and then there's the moment of weakness Blush.

Thanks for pulling me back into line. You can smack me round the head anytime you like wrt to this Wink

ItalianLady · 28/11/2010 16:44

You really need to move on from this man right now. Did you lend him your car when you were still together as you posted about that weekend ages ago?

tummysgoingslowly · 28/11/2010 16:48

Blush yes

OP posts:
ChippingIn · 28/11/2010 16:48

Anytime you are feeling tempted to phone this cunt complete wanker - feel free to PM me and I'll slap you around a bit!

It wasn't 'ages ago' it was a few weeks ago - that's not long when you love someone and have been really hurt & completely shafted by them :(

tummysgoingslowly · 28/11/2010 16:52

Thanks ChippingIn - don't offer that lightly because I'm too embarrassed to tell anyone IRL that I am still tempted to contact him and try to be friends

Grin
OP posts:
ChippingIn · 28/11/2010 16:57

I am not offering it lightly!! I am also on here more than is healthy... so PM me!!

You cannot be friends with a guy who has treat you like that.

You also cannot be friends with a bloke you still want to shag.

tummysgoingslowly · 28/11/2010 17:02

You're right. I've been off work with a mild concussion and a huge black eye so have had too much time to feel sorry for myself think. This week will be flat out so that should hopefully get him out of my system.

I'll keep your offer in mind, and you sound absolutely lovely btw! Grin

OP posts:
ChippingIn · 28/11/2010 17:07

What did you do to get a black eye and concussion??

PrematureEjoculation · 28/11/2010 17:07

once i lent a car to my sister. she complained because there was less than a 1/4 tank in it and she had to put £5 in to avoid running dry.

i'd have filled it up, but had worked the night before and didn't have time to go out of town to a fuel station before handing it over.

i really didn't expect a complaint though.

tummysgoingslowly · 28/11/2010 17:12

Fell off my bike after braking sharply to avoid pedestrian - can't really remember but judging by the story told by the shape of the bruises on my leg, I landed on the handlebars (with my head on the road).

Lots of being chatted up by men this Christmas I feel - tempted to do the other eye in symmetrical bright colours Grin.

OP posts:
tummysgoingslowly · 28/11/2010 17:12

Premmy I wouldn't have expected a complaint either!

OP posts:
Hassledge · 28/11/2010 17:14

Well when you hire a car you return it with the amount of fuel you started - and if you're my DH, that means not a drop more because car hire people are all bastards.

So maybe the guy had Car Hire Etiquette in his mind.

Altinkum - not sure why my comment made you LOL but I'm pleased to have been of sevice! :)

Have you read the whole thread? The utter wanker was shagging other girls and borrowed TGS's car under the guise of going to a lads weekend when he was actually using it to fuck someone else.... bastard.

I apologise if you felt I was being mean Sad. I didn't know you were in love with him.

tummysgoingslowly · 28/11/2010 17:37

No you weren't being mean! He did hurt me but the main thing is what I can take away from it for myself.

And that is: have higher standards for what I want in a relationship. I matter too Smile

OP posts:
clam · 28/11/2010 17:37

HE BORROWED YOUR CAR TO GO AND SHAG SOMEONE ELSE?????
I would say the amount in the fuel tank is the least of your concerns about how much of a tosser he is!

tummysgoingslowly · 28/11/2010 17:37

And we have inadvertently swerved into the Relationships thread Grin

OP posts:
tyler80 · 28/11/2010 17:38

For a weekend away, if he'd already paid 40 quid for insurance I wouldn't expect a full tank. You can get some great weekend deals on car hire, filling the tank as a gesture of goodwill could end up costing more than the car hire.

tummysgoingslowly · 28/11/2010 17:39

Yes, clam, he did. It's good to be reminded that he is, indeed a supreme tosser.

Although this thread came about because my friend and I were just debating this morning if the fuel bit was twuntage - she said no, I said yes (I want to believe everything about his behaviour was twuntage)
