The non-hug-unless-important thing is one of the many things I like about Mumsnet. It's liberating to find a place that doesn't do the fluffy-wuffy stuff (thanks SantasNutellaFairy). I've been empowered (though here is just about the only place where that word actually has meaning) to almost speak my mind. So far, I've managed to use the word "wanker", and next up will be ff.. fu..., no, not quite there yet.

Routine use of hugs is pink. And is therefore, probably, an abomination unto Nuggan.

Which is why, huggly, we should abandon the pretence that we don't do hugs. Because it's not true. They're only given when needed; but if they are considered to be completely inappropriate then they won't be given AND people won't be speaking their minds. Which sometimes results in calling people a wanker and sometimes in giving them a hug.

I'll surrender on the emoticon point, wasn't that committed to it.
