Recently I crashed my car someone was on my side of the road and I made a split second decition to crash into the headge as I knew I would not stop the driver of the car after checking I was ok drove away.... The farmer's wife just rang me demading money for the hedge... Am slightly peed off by her saying:
What will you do about it?
How will you fix it?
It will cost lots and you need to pay...

it was about a foot of hedge I damaged slightly... I have pictures...

Grin Oh come on, you have to admit it sounded pretty ridiculous, the owner is saying it will cost loads to fix and is having a good rant and you say "buy her a plant", it just does not compute, sorry!

The thing is you cannot just go and buy a hedge type plant, as I am sure you are aware. There are certain types of hedges that will affect all sorts of things, ones that are no good for certain situations and so on. The fact that the feild is planted now does not mean it will remain so and some hedge type plants are not suitable for use with livestock. There are so many variables that the op could not possibly get it right by just nipping to B&Q and popping round with a plant - even a hedge type one!

£40-£50 quid out of your own pocket or an insurance claim? It would be the OP's choice.

Sorry for getting your name wrong, must have been the tears in my eyes.

Get a sense of humour, not being able to see the funny side of ones-self is very bad for your health.

no, it would only sound ridiculous if you were looking for something to pick on. Presumably talking to the hedge owner and asking for her preference wouldn't be too far fetched.

The Op said there wasn't Much damage, if the hedge owner is saying that it would cost loads to repair, she is pulling a fast one. Having lost a bit of hedge, and livestock due to that lack of hedge, admittedly I might not be in the best of humour Blush , I couldn't claim on insurance, if someone had turned up with any kind of replacement instead of making me go through claims, I would have been grateful.
any other time I'm a barrel of laughs. honestly Smile

Grin don't worry I am probably in an irritatingly far-too-good mood - so we are probably not the best match tonight Wink

Damage like this is annoying and i suspect the woman was so cross because she is probably aware that, all too often, there is little or no recompense for these incidents. As a farmer damage to fences/hedges etc is a constant battle as so many people do not care and do not make contact or even offer an appology.

If you had said "go and see her and suggest you buy a replacement hedge plant that will fill any gap in the hedge but make sure it is one that she is happy with" It would not have tickled me so, it was just that it came across rather like saying buy her a bunch of flowers or something. I will take my silliness off to bed now and try to come back in a more constructive mood tomorrow Blush

Grin no, by all means try a bunch of flowers, it might work. I was assuming a viewpoint that others might not necessarily automatically see. brevity is the mother of um, bunfights. Grin
