The uniforms are minging Hula... no one is calling the children names, we are calling the uniforms.

Hulababy · 23/11/2010 22:18

Oh no - disagree. One post at least refers to the wearers. Not the first time. Beenhere long enough for that,

Are they minging? Well, again - very much up to the individual there. Personally I don't think my DD looks minging, nor her unform. But there you go.

I am not particuarly find on particular outfits - just learnt manners, from my dodgy council estate state school too before I get accused of that one, not to be so unpleasant about others and their choices.

You may have guessed - bit of a bug bare here.

Hulababy · 23/11/2010 22:21

Abd it is only a certain type of group of people who seem to think that paying for education is not right, but paying to move to a specific catchment area to be in a speific school is ok.

scottishmummy · 23/11/2010 22:24

funny that.ok to buy advantage as house is in good catchment but sniffy about buy advantage by private school

all amounts to same thing imo

NigellaTufnel · 23/11/2010 22:32

Nice way to welcome someone onto Mumsnet OP. She was just looking for help

Your children must be charming.

I was state school all the way. In a much scarier place that Morningside. But think that anyone should have the choice.

Presumbaly the OP will pay her taxes, but won't need the LEA to pay for her child's place.

That's more pritt sticks for the rest of us.

pointydog · 23/11/2010 22:36

There are so many threads that irritate me on mn that th e prep school ones just join the huge over-anxious chattering wave.

scottishmummy · 23/11/2010 22:38

facetious threads about threads annoy me

Desiderata · 23/11/2010 22:45

Why don't the pair of you just stop posting, if you feel that way?

Honestly, you're almost as boring as the thread.

scottishmummy · 23/11/2010 22:46

who made you editor in chief miranda priestly

Desiderata · 23/11/2010 22:49

Ummm, just comes naturally, I guess.

scottishmummy · 23/11/2010 22:50

no you lack flair and originality

pointydog · 23/11/2010 22:52

You talking to me?

mamatomany · 23/11/2010 22:53

Honestly is there an approved by the professional poor list that could be circulated so we know what we can spend our own money on without scorn ?

Desiderata · 23/11/2010 22:54

Yes, she's talking to you, Pointy.

pointydog · 23/11/2010 22:55

Who's talking to me? Are you talking to me, des?

Starbuck999 · 23/11/2010 22:56

True, but it appeared the op was judging the parent for looking for a prepschool. I was just pointing out we all have different priorities and why shouldn't they pay to send their child to school.

I would have sent dd to prep school if we'd got a place, it's by far the best school in the borough and it's only 3.5k, would have been money well spent. I also intend to send dd to private secondary school if we don't get into a decent local state school. We are not well off or twats, just believe it's worth paying for if the local schools are crap.

SofaQueen · 23/11/2010 22:57

Well, of course Y are NBU. Just as I am NBU to think just think "what an obnoxious cunt" to this thread.

Desiderata · 23/11/2010 23:00

Pointy, I'm just having a joke.

Any hoo, how are you, gal?

Ha! I was all confused there. Yes, I am good. V mellow. Et tu?

Hassled · 23/11/2010 23:05

"That's more pritt sticks for the rest of us" :o.

DS2 wants to go to hideous school uniform shop with me to replace his one missing PE sock so he can "look at all those weird public school uniforms they have there". That's our idea of a fun day out.

Desiderata · 23/11/2010 23:07

I'll mellow with you, Pointy. 'tas been a long time.

Got no idea what this thread's about, though Grin

Rannaldini · 23/11/2010 23:08

that's a bit much sofa

I'm worried that state school won't be good enough for my baby
she's g&t and i'm unsure that they'll be able to properly cater for her needs

HuckingFell · 23/11/2010 23:12

Interesting that the OP lives in an area which has grammar schools.
