StaceySolomonismyHeroine · 23/11/2010 20:44

LOL

YANBU to think it.

You might possibly be unreasonable to post it on said thread though.

MissBeehiving · 23/11/2010 20:47

Dubarry boots

Jodphurs

Desiderata · 23/11/2010 20:48

I don't even know what a prep school is.

There.

cerealqueen · 23/11/2010 20:50

YABU - we all know where a privileged education leads.... years doing sod all with it and then to marry their prince charming. Their child could be a future queen! Grin.

scottishmummy · 23/11/2010 20:51

still doesnt answer the obvious just google it you goon

jonicomelately · 23/11/2010 20:55

Lol MissBeehiving.

MissBeehiving · 23/11/2010 20:57

lol. I did, but I can find nuffink that suitably communicates the genre. You'll just have to use your imagination.

Maisiethemorningsidecat · 23/11/2010 21:00

Yep, not much call for prep school in Bathgate, ScottishMummy Grin. Could always try Clifton Hall though - if you're desperate...

I feel the need balance to calls for a prep school with "skanky state (pref with no uniform) required - no point in wasting money on my thick offspring" or similar

Hulababy · 23/11/2010 21:02

YABU and judgemental but suspect you know that and couldn't careless.

Really not into calling young children names just because of their uniform though Hmm

scottishmummy · 23/11/2010 21:11

edinburgh has 25% private school uptake secondary level

Maisiethemorningsidecat · 23/11/2010 21:22

That's 75% with more sense

Anyway, Bathgate's W Lothian, so more like 97% with more sense

scottishmummy · 23/11/2010 21:27

frankly if someone wants to cough up,up to them.as lets face it the other well trodden route is be in/buy in affluent area to get in good school

Maisiethemorningsidecat · 23/11/2010 21:34

That doesn't set my teeth quite as much on edge as the search for the perfect prep/boater for some reason

scottishmummy · 23/11/2010 21:44

it is nonsense to chuff on about private schoos and boaters

meanwhile the currie, balerno, morningside parents can fake scheme accents and ordinariness affectations as they drive kirsty and callum to school as they congratulate self that they would never use private schools

buying into a catchment area is just another way to secure privilege

Starbuck999 · 23/11/2010 21:49

I don't understand why it bothers you. Why shouldn't someone post asking for reccomendations for a good prep school- you don't know their situation, they might be working nights, saving lots and giving up their family holidays each year to struggle to pay the fees. People have different priorities, and it's not only the stinking rich that pay for their childrens's education. Yabu

Maisiethemorningsidecat · 23/11/2010 21:53

Up to a point - but a house in Currie isn't going set you back the cost of a house in Edinburgh plus school fees for 2 kids of around £120K for 6 years. Still rather see someone using state education than private.

but no one has to abide by anyone else preference.

not in education,health or parenting

so regardless of what anyone would prefer, people can and should spend their legit money as they wish

the leap of faith they assume is that private =better.and sometimes yes if your state primary is underachieving.not so if it is good school

Rollmops · 23/11/2010 21:59

Awww, nasty..., sour grapes, eh?Hmm
Have a boater, no charge,... good girl.
Now, off you trot.

LynetteScavo · 23/11/2010 22:01

Starbuck999, working nights and struggling to pay school fees doesn't stop someone being a twat.

I would say YANBU. OP, but I think DD would look cute in a boater. Does anyone know of any prep schools in the Midlands where the girls wear boaters? Wink
