Seriously. I mean it was mildly amusing but it wasn't THAT funny.

It there anyway of hiding all threads with the word pombear in them?

Maybe you didn't start it - but have you done anything to stop it? Maybe you see this as your > 15 minutes of fame?

I'd email MNHQ and request the stupid crisp be put to death .... but I doubt you will.

But I shall take my hat off to you - you will devide MN more than Moldies ever did...

FFS, why all the animosity towards SlightlyJaded?

She started a fantastic thread. It took off because it was HILARIOUS - and not at all mean or spiteful - far from it.

The Pom Bear emoticon is just a bit of fun! Why do some people always look for the negative?

Please leave her alone! Smile

What the heck? 15 mins of fame? Divide mumsnet? This got really weird really fast.

err...perspective, people!

Maybe the sanctimonious killjoy fuckers should have a few pom bears and a snifter of turps and shut the fuck up?

Just a though. Bear

Wow... Just, wow.

Ha ha - yeah sorry - 'really weird really fast' can happen when I post more than 3 x on one thread...sorry for being a bit over the top back there...

I won't take my hat off to you - (cos you haven't done very much really )... I'm just tipping the velvet ever so slightly

Is this worth arguing about really? Really?

I am not going to flatter myself for one moment that it really matters in the grand scheme of things. RedRobin, you did insult me, you said you thought I was Gruesome. I have far more important things to worry about as I am sure you do, but feel obliged to come back to this because I am starting to feel uncomfortable posting on completely unrelated threads. I don't want to feel I have to namechange.

We are all allowed our opinions on what is funny/unfunny/approprute. We are even allowed to differ.

DaftPunk if you wanted something different (cats bum/Boak/whatever) why don't you ask instead of being all ansty about something that makes some people smile.

And that is all.

Tipping the velvet ever so slightly Grin Thats what i always thought but never thought you'd admit it Well done BTW I love the little bear my ds loved those crisps as a baby but all this fuss is just weird!

You know you could lighten up and do something more constructive.

You could, for example, join me on a Bear hunt Grin

Well, there were sufficient people - including MNHQ - who thought this was funny enough to not only put the original thread into Mumsnet Classics, but also to create an emoticon in its honour!

Lighten up, people, and leave SlightlyJaded alone. If you had read her thread properly you would have seen that the reciprocal dinner party was already arranged; it was not done so for MN's benefit.

I think you'll find that this is something light-hearted and humorous. No need to make a big fuss about it.

Although, this is Mumsnet ...

I don't get it. Was the hat/velvet thing aimed at me?

Report
SuePurblybiltByElves · 19/11/2010 16:06

Psammead, maybe I am being dense, I assumed it wasn't intentional. Tipping the velvet is a term for oral sex, often used by lesbians www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=tipping+the+velvet. I was giggling at DP using the phrase is all, I certainly wasn't thinking of you. Not in that way Grin

Hold on - "tipping the velvet" refers back to Victorian society when men would tip their velvet top hat in polite recognition...
That's what I meant - I was tipping my hat to SJ rather than taking it off completely.

SuePurblybiltByElves · 19/11/2010 16:29

I know you meant it in a hat-y way DP but it made me snortle Smile. I must have a filthy mind.

It wasn't that funny. But whatever.

I loved that thread and SlightlyJaded too! She has done nothing wrong.

Either use the emoticon or don't, simple.
