...in order to get our daughter into the right school?!!
Just to explain a little more this is a man who has mocked his sister for converting her entire family in order for them to get into best school in area, a man that married me quite happily in a C of E church and then refused to allow the christening of our daughter because it was 'hypocritical'. Well I did have a bit of a laugh at his expense I suppose...

I think your DH Is being utterly hypocritical there then, BrightonGirl and I think I may have an idea as to why! If teh Catholic parent is supposed to be the one who supports the school's ideals/ideology, is he worried that he will have to get more involved? Is he trying to get you to convert so that you can do all that and he can still continue to ignore it? Cos if so, that's pretty shit.

not yet! It's been peeing down with rain most of this week and I'm in long sleeves and long legs today. Should perk up sometime over the weekend - hope so, I'm supposed to be going swimming 8am Saturday morning!Shock Went last weekend and it was hot enough but I'm having doubts about this weekend...

Anyway - tell him to stick it up his arse. Grin

And that's the thing. If you don't believe in it, it is un-doable as a lifestyle unless you are willing to live as a complete and utter hypocrite, thinking one thing and telling your children, your neighbours, your community another.

That perfectly sums up why it's always a crap idea to baptise your child, move house, whatever to get into a Catholic school. Because the lies involved wouldn't be worth the gain and you would have to pretend to subscribe to something you don't believe in. By all means go to them and say you're not Catholic but would like to apply for the school, what are the chances? But lying is pointless.

BTW, no offence taken, all opinions welcome Wink

Is this school really so good anyway - what data is he basing this on? Round here most of the RC secondaries are not good anyway, the CofE looks good superficially but when you deconstruct what subjects are done for GCSE, the selectivity of the intake (look at the free school meals and SEN stats) actually they aren't doing anything special.
