Yeeees..I know! It's for Charidee! But really - several people phoning in with 60K plus bids to drive Ferraris. Made me feel queasy.

Some people who have that kind of money will be giving generously and quietly with no thought of getting a fun day in return or of anyone knowing they are doing it. Which is lovely.

But there are also (apparently) plenty of people out there with this kind of money, who can be persuaded to part with big chunks of it for these auctioned events. I think its a good thing to get the money outof them. We can be moral and say "they out to give it anyway" but some of them wont.

Its not that different from a phone-in or text-in "competition" where you're donating £1 while getting the chance of winning something. You could equally say those people should just be putting the money into a tin instead of hoping to win something with it.

Completely agree with you Risingstar, well said!!!! Surely the only people who can 'bid' £60,000 for a drive in a sports car are multimillionaires who could probably do that type of thing anyway :/

I always listen to the Chris Evans show but I have found the last two morning shows really hard going .....

I think some of the reactions here are tinged with jealousy about how much money people have compared to them - well, unfortunately, that's life! I think it's great that people who may not have otherwise given £60K to people less fortunate than themselves have been persuaded to part with their cash. Please also bear in mind that these sports guys and celebrities are giving up their time too which, in essence, is their money.

YABU it's a nonsense to be annoyed that someone with money wins a charity auction. Makes more sense to be annoyed that they can earn so much and spend it on expensive tat, but if the money is going to charity good on them.

Yesterday's was £65k.... so what? Why does it bother you? The children need it more than ever, so if those "with" can donate on this scale, then let them!!!

I can't believe some of you are at this.
It's charity fgs! Things like this raise awareness for all sorts of ill or deprived children, and I imagine there are quite a few mners whose children benefit from the millions raised every year by CIN.
If a few celebs want to donate their time for free so that some wealthy people can put their hands in their pockets, well, bloody well done to them!
