Ok so my son is going to the cinema party. The mum who took them ( small group) got the time wrong and missed their film by an hour.
So she decides to give them lunch while they kill time to wait for the next one.
Fair enough.
But then i get a text " hi hun, sorry missed time for film r w8ting 4 nxt 1. Lunch @maccyDs. ok?"

For GODS sake, if I wanted my kid to eat there ( as if) I'd take him. He knows we dont eat there or at similar places.
I am livid but what could I say?

Advice please on how to deal with this

Hmm

Am assuming joke thread.

SheikYerbouti · 06/11/2010 14:34

But obvioulsy the fact my boys have eaten McDonalds occasionaly means they will be fat delinquent teenagers who like to hotwire cars

MsKalo · 06/11/2010 14:45

Why all the hostility to madonaidsmum? And what is it with people and their pathetic 'get a life' comments? Is there any need to be so rude just because this mum doesn't agree with mcdonalds for her child?

If she knew u didn't like mcd's she was wrong to take ur child there, if she didn't, point it out to her and maybe u need to rethink if you want her to take your child places if you have different ideas.

I do find the ignorant and hostile comments left for you here very childish and says a lot about the women who write them!

mumbar · 06/11/2010 14:46

ROFL at this thread Grin

I guess the answer is never let your DS out again. Simple, you can then monitor everything he says, does and eats Hmm.

Great wind up tho needed a laugh this afternoon Grin.

usualsuspect · 06/11/2010 14:48

so the party mum should change her plans to fit in with one child then MsKalo?

Liluri · 06/11/2010 14:48

It's at times like this that I truly wish there was an emergency telephone number for Ocado, so they could nip out with a box of sushi, some hand-carved beetroot crisps and a nectarine for the poor lad.

I imagine it would surpass the coastguard in the emergency services top five.

Each rescue vehicle would come equipped with a St Bernard with a cask of Innocent Smoothie around its' neck.

CristinaTheAstonishing · 06/11/2010 14:51

Grin at Liluri. Maybe you could develop the idea, I think it has some mileage in it. Add a couple of cupcakes for treats after the ordeal and some 'welcome home' bunting.

cupofcoffee · 06/11/2010 14:58

YANBU. When they get back let rip at this woman and express your anger fully. Following that you never need worry again because your ds will not be invited to anything again so problem solved.

Is this thread for real?

What time are they due back? Do update us how it goes.

Just going to put the kettle on as I think it's time for coffee and a Biscuit. OP you probably don't have any of those but why not join us with a carrot stick?

Liluri · 06/11/2010 15:29

lol @ Cristina
LeninGuido, you may be interested in the Cocktail and Snacks Rapid Response SmartCar, which will be part of the emergency fleet Wink

I'm v hopeful of being able to secure a huge wodge of government funding.
It's a choice between this scheme and the NHS - they're having a vote during a round of golf and will get back to me.

pigletmania · 06/11/2010 15:39

My goodness op get a life, get over it fgs. Its not going to kill him, things happen. She did not put him in danger, get over it. You cannot cotton wool him forever.

MaddonaldsMum · 06/11/2010 15:40

Well, he is back, with his face smeared with ketchup and honking of overused deerp fryer fat.

darleneconnor · 06/11/2010 15:42

Why does anyone with an anti-Mcdonalds OP get flamed on Mumsnet?

Obesity's no joke. Would people think the same if the OP's teenage son had been given heroin as a one-off?

ZeroMinusZero · 06/11/2010 15:42

Shit, what a nightmare. You do realise he's probably contracted Aids from the chicken nuggets, don't you?

FreudianSlimmery · 06/11/2010 15:44

An thanks to this thread I've now learnt what dipsomania is!

Anyway not sure why the big M gets all the flack really, other brands are just as bad (and tasty)

My friend was planning her toddlers birthday party and suggested macdonalds. Her posher friends were very catsbummouth. Thought it rather funny that they did their parties at the local soft play - where the party food is the same style as md, looks much greasier etc Hmm

Tidey · 06/11/2010 15:51

For the love of Ronald, please please stop calling it Maccy D's. It's McDonalds, there isn't even an 'A' in the 'Mc' part. What next, Tommy K and Peany B?

pigletmania · 06/11/2010 15:51

Bloody hell op i feel for you if thats all you have to worry about. FGs once he is an adult he will be asking you permission to have a burger. Be grateful, someone took him out and he has a great time. Comparing heroin to MaccDS Hmm. MODERATION!!!!!!!!! For some of you here who actually agree with the op, have a big fat [bisucit] with yummy jam in the middle.

cupofcoffee · 06/11/2010 15:52

darleneconnor think that has already been done comparing illegal drugs to junk food. Heroin could kill you in one go and is illegal. Junk food will not kill you as a one off and is legal. Obesity is no joke, nor is high salt intake etc but think it may be pushing it to think that a child could eat enough calories in a single visit to fast food bar to make them obese.

cryhavoc · 06/11/2010 15:53

But at least he's home.

I've just had to clutch my PFB to my chest and shed some tears whilst vowing to protect her from such horror for as long as I possibly can.

Did you say anything?
