Ok so my son is going to the cinema party. The mum who took them ( small group) got the time wrong and missed their film by an hour.
So she decides to give them lunch while they kill time to wait for the next one.
Fair enough.
But then i get a text " hi hun, sorry missed time for film r w8ting 4 nxt 1. Lunch @maccyDs. ok?"

For GODS sake, if I wanted my kid to eat there ( as if) I'd take him. He knows we dont eat there or at similar places.
I am livid but what could I say?

Advice please on how to deal with this

OP, you are the type of 'helicopter' parent that i dread. If i were you, i would be gtateful to get him out of my hair for a few hours.

You could have texted her back and said only buy him a bottle of water, some carrot sticks and a bun with salad. He wouldn't mind that AT ALL.

I also think you're making it up. Shame you gave it away so soon. 4/10

TheProvincialLady · 06/11/2010 13:39

That'll be because of all the additives she eats.

FreudianSlimmery · 06/11/2010 13:39

But then if she took them to have organic pizza, she'd have been accused of being "ponce-tastic"...

McDonald is not exactly a restaurant where I'd like my children to eat regularly (Burger King is way better Wink), but to be honest OP... this is a ONE OFF!!! Enjoy the child free time!

CocoPopsAddict · 06/11/2010 13:40

MaddonaldsMum - you are so obviously posting for reactions here - you sound far too outraged to be real. Think subtlety. You're just not good enough at this.

SixtyFootDoll · 06/11/2010 13:41

ROFFLING at the 'informal contract' OP.

Come on out yourself

GypsyMoth · 06/11/2010 13:41

op....

  1. what were the other places she could have taken them to?

  2. what did you say when you text her back

  3. what have you got prepared for his dinner when he returns tonight?

MaddonaldsMum · 06/11/2010 13:41

I sent back this in FULL english with paragraphs and a semi colon.

Although I am not happy with the restaurant choice; I can see that at ( insert location) there is no alternative.

Cocaine = illegal, McDonalds = legal. Very unlikely to happen and a pretty ridiculous comparison.

FWIW we generally don't eat McDonalds, but we have been gone when DD has been invited by friends. It didn't posion her, and she didn't even like it that much, I just didn't want her to be excluded from a party because I'm not keen on it.

Stories like these always remind me of my friend's son whose mother is a food fascist ALWAYS ensured her DC ate healthy food. I collected him from school and chatted on the way home, asking him what he'd had for lunch. His reply 'pizza and chips'. When we got to his house his mum asked him what he had and he gave me a slightly worried look then said 'baked potato and salad'. I smiled at him and didn't dob him in.

I vowed when I had children I would offer a balanced diet with no foods being a 'treat', and just teach DD moderation. Her diet is excellent, but we don't exclude anything, just eat the more unhealthy food in moderation.

TrinityTheTwattyRhino · 06/11/2010 13:41

is it BoF???

TrillianAstra · 06/11/2010 13:41

Please tell us what you said in response.

I am hoping for "MacDonalds?! Are you trying to kill my child? If I had known you considered this appropriate fare I would naver have agreed for my precious darling to go anywhere with you. Please return him immediately."

forehead · 06/11/2010 13:42

Is this a joke MM? If it is you really NEED to get a life

Vallhala · 06/11/2010 13:42

"Although I am not happy with the restaurant choice; I can see that at ( insert location) there is no alternative."

There's only one thing for it, MaddonaldsMum.

You're going to have to move house!

I hope you texted back that he is allowed a wrap and some fruit.

And that under no circumstances is he allowed coke. Or chicken nuggets.

TrillianAstra · 06/11/2010 13:43

I am a little confused at your name. Surely you are AntiMacDonaldsMum?

oranges · 06/11/2010 13:43

what was the point of texting that back? so you admit she had no other choice given the circumstances, but just want to register your displeasure?

Clary · 06/11/2010 13:43

LOL at this thread.

OP I am hoping you are not serious. Very good joke.

MaddonaldsMum · 06/11/2010 13:43

You got it.
