Feeling sad that DS2 is a big boy at big school now :(

He is 4.3 and just started Reception. He has some lovely, cute 'wrong' words which we've not corrected up until now. He speaks beautifully but the odd mistake sounds so cute and once corrected they are gone forever. As he's learning to read I've had to give in and tell him the right words. :(

Tonight we've had to get rid of 'Humbrella' as we're practising U and the picture didn't match the sound

Anyone else pine after the day of cute toddler mistakes? AIBU to miss them?

DD struggled with her "c" sound and would offer me a "tup of tea" and we went on a "tamping holiday in our taravan" I asked her for a "tup of tea" the other day and she glared at me and said "mummy it's a cup of tea silly"

DD has speech delay. I was very sad when Auntie Woo became Auntie Sue, and lastly she said "yes" instead of "neh" - it's was her last word to go

She worked so hard to learn to pronounce so many sounds so she could be understand but I miss them too.

YANBU.

DS is only 2.4 so we have some time to go yet, but I am already not looking forward to the day that we only have boring tomatoes instead of 'pumatoes', or snuggles instead of 'nuggles'.

Oh, I am dreading dd going to school, as I will have to teach her that brambles are indeed called brambles, and not "grumbles" as she likes to call them.

I smiled today when DS said that he had "membered" something.

My DD can't say the 'sm' sound so we have fartie yoghurts. Hilarious when we're shopping.

I'm still telling my DD (5) that flutterby is the correct pronunciation for butterfly! And I don't correct her when she says basgetti instead if spaghetti - I love it! Dreading when she starts using the correct words.

I was just thinking today how much I'm going to miss DS talking about effluents (those big grey creatures with the long trunks).

Our next door neighbour is called "few" (hugh!) and my dad is called "pampa".
I have forgotten so many of these little words and it makes me really sad

Oh. Just membered that he also says Kasska instead of Kafka.

Which makes us sound extremely poncy unless you know he is referring to the neighbours dog.

DH and I still use them, although DSs grew out of them years ago!

Well there is a lovely American boy in my DD's class..he is 6 and he says "dwass" for grass and "Twonkers" for conkers! I don't think he's too old for a cute mistake!

I was gutted when DD stopped saying ba-brah-na (banana!)

A very common one, but 'lollies' always made me giggle. "Look Daddy, a LOLLY!" while speeding down the motorway past an Eddie Stobart. "There's another lolly Daddy, there's lots of lollies out today..."
