Not only did my colleague insist on describing her intimate waxing session at the salon whilst I was eating my lunch, but she also said 'you should think about it for when you give birth'. (I've told her in the past I don't think I will ever get waxed by another person 'down there')

Why???? Confused Firstly, do midwives and doctors really care about whether you are hairy or not and secondly, I'm sure the way I look 'down there' will be the last thing on my mind.

YANBU.

Next time ask your friend to not discuss things like that when you are eating.

Very apt thread for your username Grin

Apparently it hurts more when you are pregnant, and I don't think they advise it> You will not give a flying fuck how hairy you are down there while giving birth, so I'd leave well alone!

YANBU and waxing is meant to be loads more painful when you're pregnant.

I couldn't even see my lady bits in the last couple of months of pregnancy so was probably like a jungle down there but I couldn't have cared less!

BangingNoise · 05/11/2010 17:38

I take it she hasn't had kids. The state of my muff was the last thing on my mind.

StarExpat · 05/11/2010 17:38

I thought most people did nothing with that area before birth. I certainly did nothing. It's not about your vagina. It's about the baby.

AnnieBeansMum · 05/11/2010 17:41

I was waxed a couple of days before dd was born and I can tell you right now - I will be a wild bush woman when DC2 is born! Grin It was incredibly painful and I have been waxed before. I don't know why it hurt more than usual, but it did.

hairytriangle · 05/11/2010 17:45

Banging she's had two [is there an 'even more confused' smiley on here?] - LOL

BangingNoise · 05/11/2010 17:50

Oh gosh. She's clearly mad then. Never speak to her again, over sandwiches or otherwise.

hairytriangle · 05/11/2010 17:51

I think they were both C section though (unsure). She does seem to LOVE telling me about her waxing Confused

do NOT have bikini waxing while pregnant!

I used to have it done regularly and thought it would be nice for my honeymoon while 4 months pregnant. It hurt so much she only did one strip and it was too painful to go on, I wouldn't even let her even up the otherside. DH thought it was hilarious!

I'm sure midwives don't care!

BangingNoise · 05/11/2010 17:54

Maybe she wants you to ask to look?

pozzled · 05/11/2010 17:54

"It's not about your vagina. It's about the baby." Made me LOL. Grin

Waxing was the last thing on my mind too.

hairytriangle · 05/11/2010 18:00

Banging EW!!!!!!! Shock

Jesus the last thing I cared about when giving birth was what the midwife / Drs thought! Far too busy giving birth.

storminabuttercup · 05/11/2010 18:09

I had my legs done at about four months pregnant. The pain prepared me for birth.
Seriously don't do it.

formerdiva · 05/11/2010 18:18

I had my legs and bikini waxed every six weeks throughout both pregnancies and booked myself in both times for a few days before due date to make sure my timing was right. I know it's not a high priority when it comes to the day itself, but hey...it's the only time in my life that my fanjo will have a public audience Grin

diddl · 05/11/2010 18:46

I gave birth on all fours so MW´s view was mainly of my bum anyway!Grin

oldinboden · 05/11/2010 19:20

'It's not about your vagina. It's about the baby'

clearly it's about both-or did you not take biology?

StarExpat · 05/11/2010 19:40

Ok oldinboden. Point taken. Let me rephrase. It's not about what your vagina looks like. It's about delivery and the baby. :) better?

hairytriangle · 05/11/2010 19:47

Actually, oldinboden and StarExpat he vagina is the tunnel that the baby comes through. The vulva is the part that is hairy.

GingerGlitterGoddess · 05/11/2010 19:53

So lets get this straight, your colleague thought that in order for hospital staff not to see your fanjo in its natural condition, you should show it to someone else first instead? And that is better how exactly???

FGS they have seen many many many fanjos and despite your username I am sure yours won't be unusually hairy :)

hairytriangle · 05/11/2010 19:57

Agree with Ginger :)
