Not only did my colleague insist on describing her intimate waxing session at the salon whilst I was eating my lunch, but she also said 'you should think about it for when you give birth'. (I've told her in the past I don't think I will ever get waxed by another person 'down there')

Why???? Confused Firstly, do midwives and doctors really care about whether you are hairy or not and secondly, I'm sure the way I look 'down there' will be the last thing on my mind.

...they truly do not give a shit..seriously do people think they have major discussions about the hairyness of a birthing mother's labia????Hmm...the woman clearly has too much time on her hands..

Mumcentreplus · 05/11/2010 20:16

If anything if the fanjo was waxed within an inch of its life they would notice it more Grin

Ginnifer · 05/11/2010 20:29

It makes no difference to giving birth whether you're hairy or not.

However. In the weeks that followed, it did occur to me that dealing with locchia, a hundred stitches and hygiene in general might have been easier without the rapidly thickening jungle muff.

... But is this a lunch break topic? No.

PinkieMinx · 05/11/2010 20:38

I wish I'd de-fluffed before - for the weeks after - as Ginnifer said - I could've fashioned rope swings

DrSeuss · 05/11/2010 21:01

Cos obviously that should be right at the top of your to do right now! You have plenty of discomfort coming up, why add to it?! And you so won't care when you actually are in labour!

hairytriangle · 05/11/2010 21:21

Glinnifer It's more hygeinic to have pubic hair than not to. It has remained in the most sensitive areas of our bodies to protect us.

I'm not sure how pubic hair 'gets in the way' of every day life?

"Why do you want to tell me about your genitals and advise me on my public hair? Are you coming onto me?"

TheVeryLazyLadybird · 06/11/2010 15:56

Hahaha, I just read that as 'It's more hygeinic to have public hair than not to'... I don't know whats going on in my head today...

YANBU, tell her to shut the hell up next time she even starts to talk to you while you have a sandwich in your hand! Grin

musicmadness · 06/11/2010 15:59

YANBU - I seriously doubt that you will care about it as you give birth!

I shave anyway, can't stand the thought of waxing, and its too expensive to consider at the moment anyway. ripping hair out of your muff...

nickelbangBANGbang · 06/11/2010 16:02

she's clearly a loon.

wtf? why would anyone care whether your fanjo is hairy or not???

I would be more shocked to see a groomed one, really, as I believe in the hygienic properties of the hair.
(and it's how God made me! [preen] )
