to be pissed off that I am yet to find nappies that don't leak?

I mean, maybe my DD wees more than most, but we have tried nearly every brand and in the mornings she is still often waking up soaked! Pampers activefit were doing the job, then they changed and are now useless. MILs solution was to toilet train her, apparently it should have been done months ago (she has just turned one). Any success stories or am I just destined to wash DDs sheets and bedclothes every morning?

the best ones i ever found were tesco own brand - they had better elastic (this was a couple of years ago things may have changed)

SHRIIIEEEKPoolingBearBlood · 01/11/2010 10:46

hmm we use the pampers ones and they seem OK. I know it's only a short term solution, but could you also put a disposable changing mat under her at night too?
lol at toilet training - DD is 13 months and I can't imagine how I'd even start

ThighsWideShitItsAGhost · 01/11/2010 10:47

If every brand you try is leaking, maybe its the way you put them on or that DD does wee more than normal? I'm not being awkward by saying this either. It just maybe something you are doing rather than the nappy?? Smile

I always used Pampers, no problems, swapped to Huggies and they leaked everytime so swapped back. Maybe you need to do it up really tight like I had to do with DS.

Serendippy · 01/11/2010 10:48

I figure I will wait til she can stand and walk unaided before I start! (She is a bit lazy slow) Don't want to limit water intake but this is getting silly. Will try tesco, thanks.

Buy some cheap washables to but over the top at least then you would only have the nappies and wraps to wash?

I'm thinking something cheap and easy 2nd hand like a motherease one size and air flow wrap.

SHRIIIEEEKPoolingBearBlood · 01/11/2010 10:50

do you change her the minute she wakes? When she gets up she might have the wee that breaks the camel's back iyswim :o

Serendippy · 01/11/2010 10:52

I change her first thing, her nappy is so heavy that she is a struggle to carry! Am very grateful for the lovely long nights of sleep but the wee, THE WEE!

Yes to going up a size at night.

Thats what I used to do with DS. It worked well.

MoonUnitAlpha · 01/11/2010 10:55

Try getting a wrap from a reusable nappy to go over the top maybe?

BessieBoots · 01/11/2010 10:56

The ones from Lidl are great.

CarGirl · 01/11/2010 10:57

I think mothercare to disposable inserts to go inside their washable smart system but you could use those inside a nappy that's one size up???

Serendippy · 01/11/2010 10:57

She is at the lowest weight for the size she wears, but maybe this would change in other brands? Will try.

How about placing a cheap sanitary towel or maternity towel inside the nappy to boost the absorbtion, as I had to do this with ds3 as even the prem nappies are too big for him at the moment & leak badly.

ben5 · 01/11/2010 11:01

another vote for tesco nappies here

NormalityBites · 01/11/2010 11:01

Why not try a cloth nappy?

I never had a leak with cloth, you can boost it as much as you need to - and it's much easier to wash a nappy than the entire bed.

StarkAndWitchesWillFindYou · 01/11/2010 11:03

tescos own brand

goodmanners · 01/11/2010 11:05

id 2nd pputting a cloth nappy wrap over the sposie.

Librashavinganotherbiscuit · 01/11/2010 11:14

Tesco own brand all the way here, think they are the ultra dry model.

WhereToStartYetAgain · 01/11/2010 11:21

Do not go by weight on the nappy packaging. 18mo DS has been wearing a size 6 Pampers BabyDry at night since before he turned 1 (he pees - A LOT!) and weighed under 11kg when we started using them. I still have to sometimes change him during the night, but usually do this as soon as he wakes up [the first morning pee is always the worst!]

I recently had to have him nappy-free around the house (terrible case of nappy rash due to teething-related explosive poos). He peed SEVEN times in 3 hours! Cue much back-breaking mopping up and muffled cursing Grin

itwasSHAMEFUL · 01/11/2010 11:24

We use Lidl's brand Toujours (no.4 size)- the ones that are like pull-up pants.

DD is 21 months and used to leak like anything overnight in all the other brands. This one is the best for non-leakage. Cheap too Smile

kveta · 01/11/2010 11:25

we had a problem a couple of months back with nappies leaking - but it seemed to be opnly when DH was doing the bedtime nappies...

we found that putting the nappy on properly (snug round the waist, frilly bits out on the legs) helped tremendously. also, if she's at the bottom end of the size range, can you try going down a size, and get the baby dry pampers - we use them overnight. I've found them better than the active fit ones for nights. how long is she sleeping overnight? (actually, don't answer that, as anything over 2 hours at a time will make me Envy Envy Envy). and does she feed much at night? DS has heavier nappies when he's up more, and when he feeds more. On the very rare occasions he doesn't feed at night, his nappies are lighter.

Ryoko · 01/11/2010 11:25

I use ASDA own brand have you tried them?

allhallowsandwine · 01/11/2010 11:30

lidles nappies are great
