to be pissed off that I am yet to find nappies that don't leak?

I mean, maybe my DD wees more than most, but we have tried nearly every brand and in the mornings she is still often waking up soaked! Pampers activefit were doing the job, then they changed and are now useless. MILs solution was to toilet train her, apparently it should have been done months ago (she has just turned one). Any success stories or am I just destined to wash DDs sheets and bedclothes every morning?

I've always moved DD up a nappy size so she is always at the very lightest weight of the range for that nappy size, just so the nappies fit comfortably. She leaks very rarely.

Eg. she is under 11kg now but has been in size 4+ for ages. Just seems to work better than 4s which seem too small across her tum.

belgo · 01/11/2010 12:02

Agree with the washable nappies suggestion; with soft waterproof covers which you can sew to fit exactly. This is what I did.

And don't dismiss the potty training suggestion out of hand, my dd2 was trained at 18 19 months.

pampers do a night time nappy, and i read on an american forum that the huggies night-times are good..we're on a wing and a prayer every night too.ds,5 months wees mucho mucho!!i have found doing the nappy quite tightly helps too

JuicyOoozingLips · 01/11/2010 12:29

Tesco's here. they seem the best so far.

GlendaTheGrizzlyPiggy · 01/11/2010 12:36

I second the ASDA own brand. Pampers & Huggies were useless for DS, they leaked constantly even during the day when I was changing him every 3 hours without fail.

We haven't had a single leak with ASDA own brand & have been using them for 4 or 5 months now.

Blondeshavemorefun · 01/11/2010 12:38

some children do wee more, i would chnage the second before she goes to bed and then if need be either double bag wih 2 nappys or try larger size

you could also cut down on drinks after 6pm (but like pt)

BalloonSlayer · 01/11/2010 12:46

What about a pull-up nappy over the top? A larger size than she would need of course.

Serendippy · 01/11/2010 15:02

She sleeps 12 hours a night with no waking for a feed (sorry kveta). Belgo am not dismissing toilet training out of hand for an 18/19mo, but she is 13mo, there is a huge difference! (I know it is doable but it is not for me until she can actually walk to the toilet, pull down her underwear and sit on the loo herself, anything else is not trained, just conditioned IMO). Thanks for all the suggestions, will try Tesco and Lidl, have tried ASDA and going up and down sizes. Next step cloth nappies!

I use tescos for my 26 month old, never had a problem. think that a size bigger might be an idea :)found pampers/huggies etc to be a pita. always leaking

APixieInMyTea · 01/11/2010 15:08

Serendippy, I have my boys in cloth nappies and have a few spare motherease onesize as I bought far too many.

If you get hold of a wrap for them I can send you a couple free to try out.

Fwiw before cloth we used sainsbury's own brand and never had a problem.

Serendippy · 01/11/2010 15:11

Pixie that is very kind, however I am the laziest mother on earth and will therefore try all brands of disposable before going to cloth. Thanks though Grin

DD is a big wee-er. I use ASDA own brand, I put one nappy on, then another nappy over it and have not had any leaks since.

TandB · 02/11/2010 08:49

Try Bambooty night nappies. They seem to be pretty bomb-proof. They are all-in-ones so not too much hassle if you are not keen on the idea of cloth nappies generally. They have 4 inserts attached to the nappy at only one end so they dangle out of the nappy when you hang them up to dry and therefore dry quite quickly. They are about £15 but we manage with only 2, although we do occasionally use a disposable at night.

maninthemooncup · 02/11/2010 08:56

My baby is only 6m but Tesco nappies are far and away the best we've tried.

Is she leaking purely because of the amount of wee or is there a wriggle factor? Just wondered if putting her in leggings for bed might help by holding nappy in place?

chitchat09 · 02/11/2010 09:04

How about gently changing her before you go to bed? When my DS was doing this I started changing him before I went to bed. Just make sure you have easy access PJs that you can change without waking her.

MumNWLondon · 02/11/2010 09:41

Agree about going up a size - I am having this problem ATM with DS1 (using huggies XL night time pull ups - he is 4.5 and toilet trained in day) - tried lifting him at 10pm but he just cries and will not perform.

Otherwise put a bigger size pull up over the top.

BTW you should write to pampers and tell them about their new "improved" design.

beanlet · 02/11/2010 22:52

We've been using a reusable nappy (a Bumgenius without the insert) over a disposable for nighttimes for our BIG wetter, and it's the only thing that has worked so far. Cloth nappies are fine for him during the day as long as we change them frequently, but at night, nothing was working.

(And don't, cloth nappy fans, tell me I should have tried X brand. . . been there, done that.)

droves · 02/11/2010 23:07

Try a blueberry onesize nappy (minky) stuffed with an extra bamboo booster (1 nappy +2 boosters)

its what i use on my autistic 5 year old daughter who pees like a horse .... never had a leak .EVER.
Grin

have also used bumgenius ...ok
tots bots 2 parters (nappy+wrap) ...fluffles good , cotton rubbish
berryplush pop ins ...theyre pish for pish..

When i have to use disposables now and again i always put a boots waterproof bed mat on dd4s bed ...they are washable and made from soft fabric but really really work . saves washing sheets in middle of night , just change the mat. Wink

Cadpat · 03/11/2010 07:14

Sorry for shouting, But BAMBO NATURE NAPPIES. They are available from Naturebotts.com or other online retailers, and they are the simply the best nappies I have ever used :) Also overall cost is not that much more than Pampers.

DD is a very heavy wetter, however these nappies have coped with explosions and 18 hours of not changing with no leaks, accidentally I must admit (blaming DH here)!!! Blush

Try the size up from what she normally wears.
