...for tarting myself up a bit just before DP gets home....

i am a SAHM and often don't bother with make-up in the day, especially if all I am doing is the school run and housework. my days usually consist of the above and sometimes meeting friends or taking my youngest to playgroups etc. but just before DP is due back I nip upstairs, and make myself presentable, stick a bit of make-up on, sort my hair out, put my contacts in if i have been wearing my specs, squirt of perfume, change into something at least clean a bit more attractive than tracksuit bottoms and uggs.

does anyone else do this? or is it horribly "stepford wife" - ly of me :o

I do put on a bit of slap and a squirt of perfume if I'm going out and leaving DP at home, does that count?

Mumcentreplus · 29/10/2010 21:25

no...Grin

TethHearseEnd · 29/10/2010 21:30

No. It'd be like putting deckchairs out on the Titanic.

Shodan · 29/10/2010 21:37

I can't say I've ever done it.

But I am usually cooking/serving dinner when DH comes through the door. I could be wearing an evening gown, tiara and elbow-length gloves and he wouldn't notice.

Truly, the way to my DH's heart is through his stomach.

Grin

But why not, if you like doing it?

Mumcentreplus · 29/10/2010 21:39

If it makes you feel good OP do it!!...not all men are attentive but you know your DP..

lola0109 · 29/10/2010 21:56

I don't. Tonight when dp arrived home he asked if i'd been caught in the rain!
BUT I always have his dinner ready and then when i'm putting kids to bed he runs me a bath. :)

yanbu!

my mum says tartin self up.love that expression

spookerv1xen · 30/10/2010 09:46

we have only been together 3 years. but i will still do it if we are together 30 :)

as i think its really important to keep making an effort for eachother. he does for me as well. i know he would still fancy me if i didnt (he has seen me in some right states, ie, having DD, being ill, being exhausted from night feeding etc) but it just makes me feel a bit more attractive which means i kind of, act more attractive, if that makes sense :o

i do make an effort in the day too, i dont look a total slob lol, am clean, tidy and presentable but what i mean is i just kind of "refresh" my make up and hair and get changed if my clothes have ended up messy from feeding the kids or whatever.

OP, i think it's lovely if you do this SOMETIMES, but tbh, i can't imagine doing this regularly. A case of the mind being willing, but the body being KNACKERED.
