It did bother me that this was advertised to mums to give their children. I thought this kind kind of over processed, plastic shite was not even allowed to be aimed at kids anymore.

Surely it's student food at best, I would never give this to my kids and I do give DS crap from time to time (he has eaten Greggs sausage rolls!). Is it not easier just to do them some toast if they are hungry after school rather than toasting this crap

ttalloo · 29/10/2010 10:47

Ugh, sounds revolting.

YANBU.

NewOrImproved · 29/10/2010 10:47

Sounds a lot lke a crispy pancake to me

saltyair · 29/10/2010 10:49

I don't what the 'crunchy shite' is made from, but it is patented AND seals in the 'meat product' on the inside.....

I don't understand it....

meat pop tarts - [hgrin]

It is real food, in that it is 100% chicken breast, 100% back bacon etc. Its not fake frankenfood. There are no preservatives, colours, flavour enhancers, etc.

Its not to say its to everyone's taste though.

The fact that its frozen though, makes me think perhaps its not that different from heating a frozen pizza up, its just using a toaster, so maybe not so bad?

I wont be buying them though.

So am I the only one who really fancies one now?

MaMoTTaT · 29/10/2010 11:08

it's the sort of thing I'd probably buy to feed myself when the DS's are with their dad, I binge out on shite food when they're with him Blush

No ayjayjay, I do too. I've just got back from the supermarket where I got the stuff for my lunch and dinner. I don't fancy it now, I want a bacon and egg pop tart! Beef and mushroom would be better.
DD adores Greggs, even though she's only been once. We are coming back to the UK next month with norfolkline ferries, she has decided we will have a pie frenzy on the boat.

MaMoTTaT · 29/10/2010 11:11

longer than it takes to shove one item in the toaster (and it creates less washing up) Wink

kreecher - I am going back too for Armistice day weekend - I have told dSis that we will be having "proper" chinese and fish and chips and an english breakfast and steak and kidney pie! I am so excited! And hungry now.....

saltyair · 29/10/2010 11:15

b-b-b-but...they look disgusting

Yum! I am starving. Must go and check out the delights of the canteen in a minute.

hocuspontas · 29/10/2010 11:35

I can't actually find the ingredients because every time I do a search my computer freezes.

They sound disgusting and hopefully won't take off. I can imagine dd1, first term at uni, seeing these on the shelf and thinking all her Christmasses have come at once...

kreecherlivesupstairs · 29/10/2010 11:36

We are going right at the end of November. Me and DD are going by sea (for a pie frenzy) and DH is joining us the next day by air.
While in the UK I intend to have
A decent Indian meal
A decent pub lunch
A nice Italian
A big shop at Tesco
Another pie frenzy
A thourough search for those savoury toast things.

fairycake123 · 29/10/2010 11:41

I don't get it: how are they not food?

hocuspontas · 29/10/2010 11:47

There comes a time when food is so over-processed that it has nil nutritional value.

MaMoTTaT · 29/10/2010 11:49

you mean like over boiled vegetables Wink

saltyair · 29/10/2010 11:52

I was being slightly facetious fairy. Obviously they are food. They just won't have very much, if any, nutritional value, they will probably have lots of sugar and alt in, and they encourage the eater to not think about what they are putting in their mouths. Plus, the idea of them makes me feel funny

At least they still look like food...
