rather than Sunday which is actually Halloween.

DC have never done it before but really want to and I thought that Saturday would be easier, no school the next day etc.

Here in Glasgow I will be expecting the guisers on Saturday night. They will be expected to do a turn for their treats. I will also be doing a traditional neep lantern, none of this pumpkin nonsense.

The americanisation of Hallowe'en really bugs me.

yankey My DCs are teenage -Halloween is not something we have ever celebrated or been involved in.In the area of the UK I grew up in it was unheard of !
I would be ashamed if my DC knocked on doors demanding sweets or they would do something unpleasant!

onmyfeet - exactly my thinking! Great links thank you, we are planning on making halloween cakes and Nigellas 'blood clot' jelly! I think it's all quite fun for them (and as a good Catholic, had a chat with them today about All Souls and November being a month of remembrance!)
