vests and baby grows, and add a coat and hat when out and about??

I just don't see the point in jeans and tops at this age it looks so uncomfortable and needs changing so often.

Anyway a lady commneted today at lunchtime
"Ah he's ready for bed"

ummmmm wondering now AIBU?

How old is he? My DD wore mainly baby grows until she was about 3 months.

duncandisorderly · 24/10/2010 19:28

how old is he? Most people on here will say yanbu, but personally once my babies are past wearing 0-3 month clothes I get them dressed during the day.

TubbyDuffs · 24/10/2010 19:30

First child, loads of outfits, like having my own real life doll.

Third child, bless she wears a nappy most of the time and I dress her when we are going out! (We do live in a very hot country though!)

Do what you feel happy with, it really isn't anyone else's business is it.

laweaselmys · 24/10/2010 19:34

Tis probably a good idea to get him out of the babygros by the time he is crawling as it wears on the knees really badly and all those baby jeans suddenly look very sensible.

But it's up to you!

ooooooeak · 24/10/2010 19:36

He is a sitter and watcher at the moment so not really going anywhere!

YANBU

ForMashGetSmash · 24/10/2010 19:39

Well with DC1 I always had her in a lovely outfit every day...DC 2 had to come to school in the AM to drop off DC 1...and she was alays in a gro and a coat...I would change her to an outfit after lunch or if we were going shopping.

I think it looks a bit lazy...get some easy outfits...like those nice stripey pants with a little soft sweatshirt...soft one piece dungarees are easy and cute.

HelenLG · 24/10/2010 19:54

DS wears jeans and things if we're going out, but mainly softer clothes (baby grows, little sweat trousers) if we're in as he finds it easier to move in them, he' 15 weeks.

ooooooeak · 24/10/2010 19:55

"I think it looks a bit lazy"
ummm he always looks lovely in fresh white all in ones....

What does it matter if it "looks a bit lazy"

He's a baby - he doesn't care, mum is happy, what does it matter what anyone else thinks?!?!

Surely, the only REAL requirements that he has are to be clean, to be fed and to be mentally stimulated, anything else is just a bonus!!

Bunbaker · 24/10/2010 20:00

DD wore babygros until she was about 8 or 9 months. Because of her health issues we were housebound and never went anywhere anyway.

When babies are tiny and in prams/carriers it does seem like a waste of money to buy anything fancy if no-one is going to see them, but I wouldn't criticize anyone for doing so.

Once DD could sit up unaided I started buying pretty outfits for her.

PhishFoodAddiction · 24/10/2010 20:02

Aww I love babies in fresh white babygros, they look so adorable, so I don't think YABU. However at 8 months my DDs were dresed in the day. Could you maybe try the soft dungarees/ jogger type trousers with a comfy top for him?

MumNWLondon · 24/10/2010 20:02

DH looked after DS2 today and didn't bother dressing him (he is 6 months) I was a bit annoyed - its a bit lazy thats all (and he is 3rd child) - DH wouldn't sit around the house all day in pjs so why should DS2?

However after 3 months wouldn't take him out in a babygro.

But its personal taste I suppose. DS2 has lots of clothes (mainly hand me downs) so no need to hang out in a babygros all day.

Conflugenglugen · 24/10/2010 20:05

I did the same thing with my now three-year-old DS. I'm pretty sure I didn't inflict permanent psychological damage. "Looking lazy" seems utterly irrelevant to me. Who cares what other people think?

MoonUnitAlpha · 24/10/2010 20:06

YANBU - all that matters with baby clothes is that they're warm, comfy and practical!

ForMashGetSmash · 24/10/2010 20:06

Of course babies look "lovely and fresh" in a white babygro...for bed or for a quick dash out in the morning...but to keep a baby in a gro all day is a bit...well I dont understand why you couldn't put him in a nice outfit!

They're not tiny for long...might as well dress them up a bit! You asked...no point in taking umbrage as you asked if you were being U.

ForMashGetSmash · 24/10/2010 20:07

If nobody cares what other people think then why not just cut holes in an old towel, drape the baby in that and ssave a few quid! Of COURSE people care what others think. If you did not then you would never buy any clothes at all..

MoonUnitAlpha · 24/10/2010 20:10

I'm more judgy of people who put babies in silly, fussy outfits and denim - treating the baby like a doll rather than considering it's comfort.

Teresasw · 24/10/2010 20:12

Babygros are great, soft and comfy and no draughts like between socks and trousers! I think I only stopped using them in the day when mine were crawling. YANBU.

Conflugenglugen · 24/10/2010 20:12

Okay, point taken - I care what others think, FMGS. Obviously just not enough in this instance.

mellicauli · 24/10/2010 20:13

My baby is 9 months. In the last month we are moving away from babygro in the day look.

I always ask myself "Would I be comfy in that today?" and I have thought I would be a bit cold going out in leggings in the last week or so.

Also I find now we are doing finger food that tops are now dirty at different time to bottoms. (No bib is big enough to contain my monster..)

Agree about jeans though. We are alternating between dungarees, lined cotton trousers and jogger type trousers.

sumum · 24/10/2010 20:15

you could try a nice soft pair of dungaress over the babygros, it's getting a bit chilly for just vest and babygro now so adding another layer may help. Or a snazzy jumper.

mrsgordonfreeman · 24/10/2010 20:16

DD still wears babygros in the day sometimes and she's nearly 1. They are so cute and comfy, why should I truss her up in jeans?

I often put her in a 'gro with a frock on top.

Firawla · 24/10/2010 20:18

well yanbu as its not going to harm them or anything but personally i would rather dress them
im suprised people saying your bu though normally you get everyone on here in favour of leaving them in babygrow til about 1 yr and saying jeans and clothes looks chavvy
