To not want to do her work?

readywithwellies · 21/10/2010 20:48

My colleague, lets call her bitchface, took two weeks leave, went abroad, did not have the recommended jabs, got ill. She has now had three weeks off on top of the annual leave on the sick and is expecting me and my other colleague, lets call her sweetiepie, to pick up the pieces. Now, I would do it for sweetiepie because she would do it for me, but bitchface is a lazy, selfish cow who goes home once her work is done (we are kinda self sufficient with our own work load)AIBU to expect bitchface to get up off her hypocondriac arse and get back to work rather than expect me and sweetie to do it? Bitchface has now had four instances of sick in 5 months and took a week off when she had a tooth out and another week off when she had a coil put in. There were no complications other than her low pain threshold. ARRRRRRRRRRRRHHHHHHHHH! And breathe!

This is about Cheryl Cole isn't it?

Are you Danni or Louie?

readywithwellies · 21/10/2010 20:51

I wish!!!!

"There were no complications other than her low pain threshold". Blimey, that's a tad harsh, don't you think? Some people have low pain thresholds - yes, they're wimps but that doesn't mean things don't fucking hurt for them.

Talk to your manager if she's winding you up this much. Unless your manager is called Simon.

blackwell · 21/10/2010 20:57

A week off for having a coil put in IS excessive if there were no problems. I had mine put in, had not given birth, retroverted uterus. It bloody hurt at insertion, ached for a day or so like period pains then was fine. One day off, OK. I can't see how a week is justified.

readywithwellies · 21/10/2010 20:58

Already have spoken to my manager, he has no bollocks Hassled. As useful as a chocolate teapot.

Totally agree with you blackwell. She is PATHETIC

wotnochocs · 21/10/2010 21:39

what is she ill with?

PortoFangO · 21/10/2010 21:44

I can beat you on this one. I have been in my current role for 3 years. I technically have an admin assistant. He came in once for 2 weeks then went sick again. Lord, you should all move to Belgium, because this guy is STILL on the payroll apparently! And I have to do everything, because they can't employ anyone else to do his work.....

readywithwellies · 21/10/2010 22:16

She has a dodgy stomach and piles. Yet she manages to smoke and drink OK as she went out over the weekend.

OP posts:
readywithwellies · 21/10/2010 22:17

Port that is ridiculous. But so is being off because you have piles

PortoFangO · 21/10/2010 22:39

I SO feel your pain, because it is SO annoying!

GeekyGirl · 21/10/2010 22:50

Could you stop doing Bitchface's work on the grounds that your manager won't do anything about it because he's got no bollocks?

readywithwellies · 21/10/2010 22:57

Geeky, if I don't do her work then my company could lose its contract and then no job. What I want to happen is that my manager makes her accountable for the fact that she has had unacceptable amounts of sick leave. In the public sector (which is pretty good hr wise) she would have been on a warning by now. That would satisfy me, then I would do as little as possible to get her stuff through, and then tape a haddock under her desk! Grin

PortoFangO · 21/10/2010 23:31

ready is quite right. The reality is that the work still needs doing. If people don't turn up for work, it doesn't magically go away.....

GeekyGirl · 21/10/2010 23:35

Well I guess it depends on the job and - not saying this applies to readwithwellies necessarily - but lots of employers exploit the goodwill of their employees.

SarahStratton · 21/10/2010 23:43

if it was a wisdom tooth and it required surgery then she could well have needed a week off. It is agony. they dislocated my jaw to get the tooth out and cut into my jawbone.

Anything other than that means she is malingering and should get her lazy arse back to work. Does Billy No Balls know she went out boozing over the weekend?

readywithwellies · 21/10/2010 23:51

Sarah, it was a wisdom tooth but was taken out in dentists with a local injection. No complications, I have had this done so I know what she had done, I could have accepted 1-2days off, but a week?

No Billy doesn't know about the weekend antics but I don't have any evidence other than verbally so I can't prove it.

SarahStratton · 21/10/2010 23:53

Ah no that's no excuse for a week off, ffs DD1 had one out 2 years ago and was back at school 2 days later.

She has more balls than bitchface and BNB obviously lol.

readywithwellies · 21/10/2010 23:53

Really annoys me because if I ask her to do anything she always replies with 'I haven't got time' and then proceeds outside for a cigarette. And she cries everytime you challenge her which is infuriating. I now sound like a bully, but she does it to get her own way.

OP posts:
readywithwellies · 21/10/2010 23:55

And if you had piles, would you want to broadcast it to the world as the reason for taking THREE weeks off work. Ffs! Got to get my frustration out before I drag her back to work by her ponytail Grin

OP posts:
readywithwellies · 22/10/2010 11:02

She has now rung in sick for another week, oh joy!

Hammy02 · 22/10/2010 11:18

I can't believe anyone would take the mick so blatantly when, given the recession, most organisations will be looking to shed useless staff to save money. Don't these people watch the news?!

loveulotslikejellytots · 22/10/2010 12:38

readywithwellies - I wouldn't count on the warning she would get in the public sector. I work in the public sector and a woman in my office had a total attendance last year (I keep attendance records) of 43% last year.

She got taken down disciplinary etc. and nothing has been done! What a surprise!

YANBU by the way.

DeadPoncy · 22/10/2010 14:00

Put your concerns in writing to your manager, and cc your manager's boss.

Quenelle · 22/10/2010 14:18

How can you know in advance that your stomach is going to be dodgy and your piles are going to hurt for another week? Ok, maybe the piles but...
