To not want to do her work?

My colleague, lets call her bitchface, took two weeks leave, went abroad, did not have the recommended jabs, got ill. She has now had three weeks off on top of the annual leave on the sick and is expecting me and my other colleague, lets call her sweetiepie, to pick up the pieces. Now, I would do it for sweetiepie because she would do it for me, but bitchface is a lazy, selfish cow who goes home once her work is done (we are kinda self sufficient with our own work load)AIBU to expect bitchface to get up off her hypocondriac arse and get back to work rather than expect me and sweetie to do it? Bitchface has now had four instances of sick in 5 months and took a week off when she had a tooth out and another week off when she had a coil put in. There were no complications other than her low pain threshold. ARRRRRRRRRRRRHHHHHHHHH! And breathe!

Has she been signed off??

eToTheiPi · 22/10/2010 16:31

Surely if she's had more than a week off she's got a doctors certificate?

readywithwellies · 22/10/2010 22:13

Oh yes she has been signed off. The doctors note says 'unwell, reason ???' Suppose there isn't a medical term for bone idle.

Dont do her work! Let company loose and they will soon realize who is responsible for it and I'm sure this would open your managers eyes!!! Serioulsy, dont do her work.

onceamai · 23/10/2010 09:05

If your manager won't deal with it you, together with Sweetie if possible, need to take this to your manager's manager. Know how you feel though.

AuntiePickleBottom · 23/10/2010 13:19

i would just ask for a pay rise to reflect the work i do.

readywithwellies · 07/11/2010 22:05

Update: Bitchface is coming back to work on Monday! I have yet to lift a finger after complaining profusely to my MD. She is only coming back because her pay is being stopped as the MD pays 'discretionary' sick pay (on top of SSP) and he thinks she is taking the piss. Fireworks tomorrow guys!!

OP - I don't think that leaving when your work is done is necessarily bad, BUT
Your so-called colleague is taking the mick. I work in the NHS and if you have two incidences of sickness in 6 months, you get called in to explain yourself, more and you end up having to see Occy Health - obviously if there's something you can't do anything about then fair do's, but constant three-day weekends due to hangovers are spotted pretty quick.
I had a coil fitted - it was like something out of Casualty, BP dropped to 90/45, I was in the surgery for hours so had the day off - but just that one day. I also had a wisdom tooth out under local - did it latest thing on Friday just in case but needn't have bothered, it was fine. As for piles - tell her to bring in a cushion. YADNBU.

She left two cups on her desk before she went away. There is something living in them now. Lovely and furry!

Ooooh - a biological warfare lab. No, she needs to go. Furry things in teacups is a hanging matter for me.

PinkIceQueen · 07/11/2010 22:33

She is obviously surpluss to requirements, tell your boss that you and sweetie need her salary distributing accordingly ;)

readywithwellies · 07/11/2010 22:57

Oooh, PinkIceQueen, that would be fabulous, but very unlikely! I am just holding on to the fact I will get a big bonus and she won't. I will get v Angry if not.
