to think people who don't bath/wash their DCs every night are lazy?

I am shocked by the amount of people on here who state that they only bathe/wash their DCs once or twice a week. OK bad cases of excema accepted, I just think that's soooo lazy. No one IRL I know leaves it that long so is it just a peculiar Mumsnet trait because they are too busy MNing?

DTS1 has excema btw, I just cover him in an emollient before he gets in the bath and it does not exercerbate it.

I mean, come on, babies and toddlers in nappies, older Dcs not very efficient at bum wipeing - how can people leave them to fester for days?

In the 'olden days' when tin baths had to be got out and water boiled in a copper pot, obviously it was not possible every day but nowadays that's not the case.

Also my DCs love RELAXING in the bath/shower. It's not only for cleanliness. They love feeling warm, clean and comfortable before getting into bed. Even my 12 week old starts getting excited just from me taking him upstairs of an evening because he knows he's going in the bath and he adores it.

Do all these people, who only bath their DCs twice a year, have a bath/shower every day themselves? Bet they do! Feel sorry for the poor DCs.

petisa · 18/10/2010 23:28

BBB, as in fattist.

MardyBra · 18/10/2010 23:28

My kids either bath or shower every day, but I wouldn't judge someone who does it every other day for instance.

BBB, you are out of order.

MaMoTTaT · 18/10/2010 23:28

oh gawd Jooly - I just read your post.

My DS's share bath water too.

DS2 and 3 get in first and have a ply and a splash around with the toys

DS1 gets in on his afterwards and washes himself (he's a bit big for toys now, or for needing me there to supervise/wash him)

I must be really lazy and my kids extra skanky Grin

BadBettyBlue · 18/10/2010 23:29

Thats not the same as being a bigot though, think you need to go and look up the definition of bigot

showmewine · 18/10/2010 23:30

soda 3 DC's and a full-time job blimey!!! you must be one busy mumma

yes he's getting his own back with 'bathroom sleeping' coz we tried 'dummy sleeping' to try to get him off the damn thing dummy

MardyBra · 18/10/2010 23:30

Ooh patronising or what?

MardyBra · 18/10/2010 23:30

Sorry x post. Comment aimed at BBB

MaMoTTaT · 18/10/2010 23:31

oh and no - I don't always shower or bath every day myself. Always in the summer, often in the winter a shower every other day, and a good old scrub of the "pits and bits" at the sink on the other

AnyFuleKno · 18/10/2010 23:31

BadBettyBlue, you ain't coming across well here

showmewine · 18/10/2010 23:31

haha oops damn thing was meant to be crossed out

MumNWLondon · 18/10/2010 23:32

Depends on age of children and the weather. DS1 has bath every day as he often smells of wee (he is 4). DD is 7 and she has one every 2nd day roughly. DS2 is a baby and he always has a bath part of his evening routine.

petisa · 18/10/2010 23:32

Fair enough. Apologies BBB - your post was nasty and fattist.

NotanOtter · 18/10/2010 23:32

thefirstmredeveerie - you ARE clever!!! I have really bad eczema which now is all but gone and i bathe a few times a day ( weirdo) I have told people it's good for me but you seem to be the first person who actually believes me

i KNOW this is not true for many sufferers!

BadBettyBlue · 18/10/2010 23:35

I accept my post was fattist, but as a big girl myself it was partly meant in jest.

Funny how its ok for somebody to say "fuck off you patronising loon" though, nobody jumps on that do they?

Double standards or what?

MardyBra · 18/10/2010 23:36

I have more of a problem with BBB's postings than the OP's.

showmewine · 18/10/2010 23:36

no its not okay to say F off to anybody really

MardyBra · 18/10/2010 23:36

OK BBB: Fuck off you patronising loon!

MardyBra · 18/10/2010 23:37

"as a big girl myself it was partly meant in jest"

As a big girl myself, I didn't think it at all funny.

BadBettyBlue · 18/10/2010 23:37

Now see as someone currently battling PND I find that highly offensive and nasty

MardyBra · 18/10/2010 23:39

What does the PND have to do with it? You were being offensive to the OP.

booooooooooyhoo · 18/10/2010 23:39

smug OP. children don't need bathed daily. a top and tail will suffice. bathtime is a nightmare for some children. why torture them?

MollieO · 18/10/2010 23:39

If I wash all the food off ds he'll have nothing to eat the next day. Grin

Have a Biscuit

Calling somebody a 'loon' is offensive to people with mental health issues! So I get jumped on for a joke but its all right for you to be offensive and nasty is it?
