To think my brother and sister are too old to share a bed

My sister (24) and my brother(15) are going on holiday to Turkey together in a week and I've just learnt that they are going to be in a double and so sharing a bed. AIBU to think this is really inappropriate and that they are way too old to still be sharing a bed. DH says I'm being silly

Would you feel the same about them camping and sharing a tent?
I usually share a twinbed on holiday with my DS who is 15. And yes, we do leave the room whilst the other gets dressed, and we wear our pjs.

Nellykats · 17/10/2010 13:08

I'm shocked that there's even an issue... I've shared a bed with my mother, my sister, my son and my little nephew. No orgies occured whatsoever.

DooinMeCleanin · 17/10/2010 13:12

You never get double beds in Turkey. It'll be twin beds in a double room.

But yes YABU.

ndavy · 17/10/2010 13:34

I shared a bed with my brother when I stayed over at his student house a few years ago. He was 21 and I was 24. Didn't think it was any weirder than the Christmas I shared a bed with my sister for 3 weeks. She spooned me every night. Now that was weird!

Lulumaam · 17/10/2010 13:43

I have shared a bed with my twin sister on two occasions recently, when we'd gone to stay there and she had a new born and i was helping her the first time, and the second time was we all went en masse and simply not enough beds! her DH shared with her DS, my two shared a bed, and i bunked in with my sister

wouldn't do it again, she kep waking me up to tell me i snore. which i don't Wink

assuming weird incestousness which is really what this is about is plain wrong. and even if they are in an incestous relationship, you saying anything won't really help

BarbaraSeville · 17/10/2010 13:51

It will be a double room, not a double bed.

You are a bit strange.

ApocalypseCheese · 17/10/2010 14:17

I once shared with brother in law.

No orgies occured whatsoever.

popelle · 17/10/2010 15:37

YABU and I'm slightly shocked that you think your brother and sister are in an incestous relationship with each other.

leandro · 17/10/2010 18:22

Is someone a little jealous they were not invited on this trip and is now trying to stoke up trouble?

duvetcover · 17/10/2010 18:49

Personally, I am shocked that people on this thread consistently fail to actually read the OPs words. She has said clearly that she does not think anything is going on. To quote: I don't think anything inappropriate is going to go on as I'm confident my sister is not an incestous paedophile

Her issue is just that she thinks it might be strange to share a rooom/bed with a sibling. I can kind of see that if you have a very conservative upbringing that might be considered a bit unusual. The thread has made it clear that mainstream opinion is that there is nothing wrong or unusual with siblings sharing a bed. End of story. To keep suggesting that OP is obsessed with incest is not only wrong but rude, deeply insulting and uncalled for.

I've shared a bed with my Mum,my brother,my friend(girl)and all my Dcs......me and DP have shared a bed with my/our (girl) friend.....it's just bloody sleeping ffs

MoralDefective · 18/10/2010 01:38

BTW....my Mum was by far the worst to sleep with.....fidget,toss,turn,grab pillows/quilt....push me over to the freaking edge of the bed..i'd rather sleep with the DP.Grin

Lauree · 18/10/2010 06:51

It's probably more affordable. in any case how often have you been on holdiday with your loved one and be dissapointed to find that a double room doesn't actually have a double bed? Too many in my experience!

BTW I have shared a double bed with my bro when there was only one avail. we thought it was the obvious thing to do. my mum was freaked out and worried sick what the neighbours would think (we were in our thirties and his wife was away ). How the hell did she think the nieghbours would even know???

Lauree · 18/10/2010 06:58

By which I meant I don't think its a problem, but others eg (my mum) would find it a bit odd, so YANBU to think its inappropriate, but I think YWouldBU to tell them so or get too upset about it. Hmm

seeker · 18/10/2010 07:16

Glad I don't live in your mind, OP!

DomesticG0ddess · 18/10/2010 07:37

YABU and weird.

huddspur · 18/10/2010 14:12

YABU me and my brother have shared a bed loads of times. He once woke me up to tell me to stop spooning him though. He was 20 I was 26 Blush

saltdog · 18/10/2010 16:16

I think its fine I always used to like it when me and my brother shared a bed as we would stay up late talking.

xynia · 18/10/2010 23:47

I really don't get the OPs problem at all, their brother and sister so what if they share a bed. Surely you'd rather her share a bed with her brother than some random man she'd pulled in a bar.
