Watching this weeks Eddie Stobart programme, apart from the suspense will it, won't it. I will probably get flamed but the Eddie Stobart spotters Debbie and Robert do need to get a life. What with wanting their van cab wrapped in the Stobart livery, wanting and Eddie Stobart duvet cover but shock horror could not because it only comes in single sizes (wonder why), have an Eddie Stobart umbrella, mug and towel Grin. Takes spotting to a whole new level. Oh dear comes to mind!

OP, yabu Grin

BeenBeta · 16/10/2010 09:37

Anyone do Prestons of Potto .... anyone? Blush

They have a very good website.

domesticsluttery · 16/10/2010 09:38

YABU (well a bit...)

DH and DS1&2 are Stobart Spotters. DH is a lorry driver anyway and is interested in lots of different lorries, the DC just took the obsession interest a bit further.

It certainly passes the time on long journeys!

They even wrote to them to suggest my name for a lorry. Here it is. I got a certificate and everything Grin

I draw the line at duvet covers though...

southeastastralbeing · 16/10/2010 10:04

did he really say that porto?! ShockGrin

PortoFangO · 16/10/2010 10:10

Yes - I told him to piss off! Years later he started working at the place as me, and he became more mature grew on me over time. About 15 years after that auspicious meeting we had dd.

It was one of those "If you told me back then that we would get married I would have laughed til I dropped" things....Grin

Tortington · 16/10/2010 10:11

when the kids were little we used to have competitions on who could count the most eddies, norberts, and 'jimmies' (james irlam)lorries whilst we were on long journeys and they all used to wave at the eddie drivers. and were thrilled when they waved back.

now, when i do a long journey, i can't help but count eddies even though i'm on my bloody own in the car

then i will coime back and annouce to dh " i saw 11 eddies today"

and to his credit he usually says "nice 1" rather than call me a nobber, which would be the sae and natural reaction

I want a lorry named after me now..............

Might suggest it as an xmas present! Thought there was a huge waiting list though. Sad

domesticsluttery · 17/10/2010 16:07

It took a couple of years between when DH wrote the letter and when the lorry was named after me.

faverghoulles · 17/10/2010 16:31

Beenbeta - dh always looks out for Prestons lorries, cos he once pulled Richard Prestons steam engine out of a mud patch when it was stuck.

faverghoulles · 17/10/2010 16:32

With a tractor btw, he's not that strong!

bandgeek · 17/10/2010 16:44

I love looking at the names of the lorries! I don't write them down or anything, but it gives me a sense of satisfation when I see one Grin

pigletmania · 17/10/2010 18:49

Wonder if they have an Eddie Stobart pin up calendar. ROTFL at the roundabout calendar, who would want to spot those really ummm sad.

domesticsluttery · 17/10/2010 18:52

You get a free calendar every year when you are a member of Club Stobart

DS1 displays his proudly above his bed Hmm

reallywoundup · 17/10/2010 22:09

lol, i've just had a drunken convo with my bonkers mother about this thread and the programme.... during which she admitted that yes i have a stobart lorry named after me and yes she has the documents in a lock box........ which she was hoping i wouldn't discover til i needed her will Grin she's utterly unhinged, but i am strangely pleased to have such an honour Wink

pigletmania · 17/10/2010 22:15

lol reallywoundup, ooooh thats good domesticsluttery Grin. A free calendar ummmm

Hasn't anyone seen the Ferguson's Transport lorries - I always cheer when I see one (dh doesn't always get it, despite the fact it's our surname Blush)

domesticsluttery · 18/10/2010 07:42

reallywoundup: I think the lorries only keep the names for about 3 years (the life span of the lorry with the firm) so the shame honour is fairly short lived!
