ooo oooo I can explain the blue eyes...
in film / tv there is a specialist visual artist called a colourist. they work in post production and literally colour the frames. Sometimes this is for special effects, sometimes its because the images are dull and lacking in colour or to correct a colour cast. The apprentice is very blue, hence the blue eyes.
