Im on 28K my DH on around 35K. we own our flat (mortgage) and have a 6 months DS (with childminder)
Both DH or I think we should not apply for child benefit as we believe we are doing well without it, and there other people out there who may need it more.
AIBU to wish that many more people would think like us?

In that case can I have some CB please?

My imaginary child is, erm, small enough to not move about and knock things over when I turn my back but big enough to sleep through the night - what would that be?

MoralDefective · 06/10/2010 22:24

'Here's Johnny'......

tethersend · 06/10/2010 22:27

Just popped out another... what's that, another sixty quid a month?

Actually, I'm going to make this one 18 then he can go straight out and get a job. Or sign on.

MilMae · 06/10/2010 22:27

right, it started well, even productive at some point, I'd say.
Now over to the "pisstakers" :o

MoralDefective · 06/10/2010 22:29

YAY.........the pisstakers RULE

ShadeofViolet · 06/10/2010 22:30

Maybe the Government will make you a flashy badge that says 'I dont claim child benefit' and then all the other smug twats like you can come and congratulate you on how smug you are.

I am really sick of these benefit threads now.

mamatomany · 06/10/2010 22:32

If you want to ease your burden on the state claim it and put it in your bloody pension because that's where the shortfall will be for the 25 years you'll probably be alive and costing the state in healthcare and pension.

MilMae · 06/10/2010 22:33

for those who are "sick of benefit threads" : its not mandatory to post, u know?

OP posts:
tethersend · 06/10/2010 22:33

To be fair, I'm not sure a flashy badge will deflect attention from the fibreglass child.

ShadeofViolet · 06/10/2010 22:35

Its not mandatory to know the actual age of your child, but most people do.

ShadeofViolet · 06/10/2010 22:36

When I say flashy, I mean actually flashing you know!

MilMae · 06/10/2010 22:36

shade, no they dont actually! :o

OP posts:
TrillianAstra · 06/10/2010 22:38

You are right OP, we don't know the actual age of your child

MoralDefective · 06/10/2010 22:38

no one needs to know, as I said: its irrelevant!!!!!
the subject was not " AIBU not to tell the truth about my DS age"?

I thank all those who dedicated some time to post here. some had very good input actually.
I have decided to claim it and donate to my chosen charity.

good night all!

lisad123isgoingcrazy · 06/10/2010 23:15

donate to me I have real children!

cumfy · 06/10/2010 23:25

Remember, CB is in effect, an investment for the government. They will be extracting their pound(s) of flesh, 20-50 years down the line in the form of tax and production from your children.

No need to view it as a hand-out.Wink

retiredgoth2 · 06/10/2010 23:28

Ah. Has the OP gone?

Shame.

Because I have just finished crafting a chocolate medal (green and black's, don't worry!) that I was going to give her.

I know.

I'll donate it to shoeless orphans instead then tell everyone about it....
