not to claim benefit?

Im on 28K my DH on around 35K. we own our flat (mortgage) and have a 6 months DS (with childminder)
Both DH or I think we should not apply for child benefit as we believe we are doing well without it, and there other people out there who may need it more.
AIBU to wish that many more people would think like us?

I am also really confused about how one claims HB they don't really need. I work for minimum wage and my HB doesn't cover barely a third of my extortionate rent. How in the name of arse can you use it on holidays instead of rent?

I think claiming CB for a child who doesn't exist is probably a very good idea, so in that sense OP, YANBU.

OP I would claim it as clearly both DC and GO are keen for you to have it.

Contrast that with me (single parent in HRT bracket) clearly neither DC or GO want to help despite the fact that I earn a lot less than your household income.
