Neurotic parents in the school playground

louise999 · 02/10/2010 21:11

Just wondering if all parents in the school playground (apart from me ha!) are neurotic, angry, self centered, evil, selfish, blinkered, crazy, paranoid loons!
I only ask because they all seem to migrate towards me. They may think I am interested or easy prey because I look into the distance when they are talking but really I am thinking what shall we have for tea tonight red or white! This has followed me round from pre school to school and it is different people as soon as I edge slowly away from one, another one snares me!
I really can't be arsed is it just bad luck or is it the norm? Usually it's the parents that demand special attention for their kids, because they are anxious, finding mixing with other kids hard etc, then they scream at them to be quiet and don't let them have tea at their friends houses or have to invite themselves too, won't let them go to parties,I even know a mother who will not let her son wear shorts in case he falls over wtf!!! I feel like shouting you silly fuck you are ruining your child!!!
Sorry for rant but would like to know I'm not the only one!

Not all loons, but certainly met a few I'm sure you'd recognise.

Constantly tell child off mum - even when child is doing nowt wrong.
Comes to tea mum - because I may try and poison her child if she's not there to witness every mouthful.
Compare the Child Mum - because she needs reassurance that her child is obviously better than mine.

I find them mildly neurotic, but nothing unpleasant.

However, "Ask how you are so I can go into a long rant about all of the problems in my life" Mum - now her I will avoid at all costs for my own sanity!

God knows what they think of me.

It's OK. You write like you are stressed out and this is just a little bit that's pissing you off. Are you OK?

louise999 · 03/10/2010 00:14

Yes I'm fine thanks belle was bit stressed when wrote the post but not now thanks to you all.

Actually babyheave has hit nail on head thats exactly whats its like, had a parent of genius child take my daughters handwriting book off her so obv, pretending she was helping her carry things to take sneak look at her book, it was so pathetic and embarrassing I laughed, what she didnt know is that my daughter a little genius too but I don't spread it around and couldn't give a crap what her son was doing they are still infants FGS!!!

louise999 · 03/10/2010 00:48

Ohhhh is that why you think I am drunk - lack of paragraphs?!?- it's a possibility- because not been in office surroundings for 5 years!!!! Ummm cant quite remember doing typing, did accounts, food for thought!

Lack of paragraphs
Muddled and confusing OP
Increasingly poor grammar

I wish I were drunk.

I joined Mumsnet today hoping to get a bit of support from other Mums as I find the school playground such a hostile place. This post says it all, the place is as I suspected full of small minds and small hearts. I think i'll carry on sitting in my car until the bell goes and concentrate on friends and family who have compassion for others, seek to understand and live and let live!

bumpsoon · 20/11/2010 10:51

Hostile as in hand to hand combat or just gut wrenchingly bitchy ? If you sit in your car they will assume you think you are better than them and they will have a total bitch fest ,be sure you park so they can see you and wave sweetly when they look over Grin .

Goblinchild · 20/11/2010 10:52

I thought the OP was a teacher, despite the lack of paragraphing.

bumpsoon · 20/11/2010 10:54

mumof4 have you only just joined mumsnet ? there are a hell of a lot of deeply caring and lovely people on here ,happy to give the support you feel you need , dont be put off by the odd random thread or rant

ComingDownTheChimmley · 20/11/2010 10:54

oooh get you Mrs PA

small minds and small hearts

pffffffffffffft

There is more good on here, more compassion, understanding and support than one person can ever understand, and one thread out of millions is hardly representative now is it

If you don't like straight talk with your support then you'll probably not like MN

Mumof4Angels10 · 20/11/2010 17:56

As I said ComingDownTheChimmley think i'll pass, thanks for the patronising pfffffft anyway!
