Not looked at the girls btw as only have a ds! But there were pics of little boys who looked about 3 wearing leather aviator jackets with military boots and generally looking like something out of london fashion week- what's the point?! Imo they looked silly, and not all that comfy. I mean what's wrong with a pair of dungarees?!
Still going to buy stuff though as it's the only place that does decent clothes at 4 tops for 9 quid that delivers to bfpo! Grin

I was in England yesterday and went into TEsco, I thought I'd try to pick up a couple of jumpers/cardigans for my DD. I came away empty handed (apart from crumpets and cheddar). The range was really not good. I don't blame you for not wanting a little milita man - particularly as it seems you are a forces family.

Giddyup · 01/10/2010 11:01

YABU & Yuck, next stuff for boys all looks nasty and cheap this winter, too much neon going on!
My super trendy DS (his choice not mine I hasten to add) didn't like any of it luckily.

Even H&M seems a bit poor lately, well the 2 near me anyway... Zara has some lovely bits, but I don't like to spend too much on his everyday stuff.

For example DS had on his brand new slacks last night for church youth club Smile and popped out into the garden to kick his football around and he came back in after 30 secs covered in the white Eggshell paint he knocked over on Sunday that DP had promised to clean up- grrrrr

stillbobbysgirl · 01/10/2010 11:07

I trawled around the shops the other day to get winter essentials for my 2 DS - 8 and 6, like jeans, jumpers, few nice sweats etc. It was IMPOSSIBLE to find anything nice at all. Even the usual trustworthy H&M have a load of rubbish.

I am SO tired of walking past 27 rails of girls clothes to find the 3 rails of boring boys clothes.

Its possible to find nice stuff if you shop at Boden/Joules/exdpensive shops, but for an average family it proving impossible to find nice stuff in average stores. When are retailers going to wake up to that fact that BOYS LIKE CLOTHES TOO!

I too will be ordering from Next, even though not that keen on their stuff, as I just can't be bothered to leave the house and hunt for stuff anymore.

My 2 do unfortunatly LOVE the neon stuff - I have managed to pacify them for the moment with a 3 pack of neon pants each Hmm

Giddyup · 01/10/2010 11:16

DS has some fabulous neon pants from primark, they are blue, with neon pink edging with "kapow" or "bang" or something on the back in pink. He adores them & searches the house for them when they have been washed. He wears them to football club and calls them his "lucky scoring pants" much to DP and various uncles amusement Grin

TheNextMrsDepp · 01/10/2010 11:19

Second the Next neon pants! DS1 (almost 11) is OBSESSED with them. Never thought I'd see the day when him and his mates were comparing bright pink undies......

Morloth · 01/10/2010 11:22

DS1 has super hero underpants (just like the book), he too searches for them if they are not at the top of the undy pile. Grin

proudnglad · 01/10/2010 11:28

Yes I think little boys should wear knicker-bockers, top hats, waistcoats and hosiery.

Tsk tsk to this modern nonsense.

YummyorSlummy · 01/10/2010 11:29

lol proudnglad! Not sure that my ds would keep the top hat on mind...Grin

yabu there is loads of normal, not neon, not particularly "fashionable" clothes in there that are suitable for young boys (including dungarees are on there!) you dont have to buy the whole catalogue just chose the ones you want, they are catering for different people's tastes so have a variety - what is the problem?

switchtvoffdosomelessboring · 01/10/2010 11:46

You make your three year old boys wear dungarees? How on earth do they get them off for a wee?

YummyorSlummy · 01/10/2010 11:59

Mine isn't three, he's not quite two yet, so I still don't have to worry about him having easy access to the toilet, hence why I have been making him practically live in dungaree sets for the past few months!!Grin

I know Matalan is infra dig, but I find it is really excellent for plain boys' clothes. Some of the stuff has logos and pictures all over it, but I managed to get some lovely plain/sober/just stripy tops and jumpers and almost Amishly plain trousers for my DS (for reference, nearly 2.6). All very inexpensive, but I haven't ever had an issue with quality.

Hope this helps?

JjandtheBeanlovesUnicorns · 01/10/2010 12:15

i just got my ds loads from next, just normal long sleeve tops, stripes, plain, grandad and so on, simple jeans, a nice couple of normal hoodies, none of it uber fashionable or unconfortable, you just gotta pick through.

ImWithStupid · 01/10/2010 12:17

Is Matalan no approved on on MNet then? I [heart] Matalan!

pluperfect · 01/10/2010 12:21

Well, Imwithstupid, some of my former colleagues were very sniffy about it in reference to another colleague, so I thought it probably was! They are the sort of snobs who would denigrate anything thought not to be quite without actually knowing why or thinking for themselves. Social cowards, really.

I'm not sure what the MN thinking is on Matalan.

I wouldn't go for some of the accessories (some really tacky bags, for example), but have bought various summer skirts, useful things from the homewares department, and of course things for DS, so I agree with you! Grin

pluperfect · 01/10/2010 12:28

YummyorSlummy, I'm really sorry, but I have just checked, and Matalan don't deliver to BFPO. I hope all my enthusiasm didn't make me sound like a smug lunatic - "this shop is great, but they won't deliver to YOU!"

Sorry!

Mammie81 · 01/10/2010 12:31

Ive seen those jackets. They are disgusting!

However, I plan on dressing DS as a dapper little gent so was pleased to see trousers with braces in H&M. Grin They will go wonderfully with the fairaisle chunky knit cardigan his Grandad bought him!

YummyorSlummy · 01/10/2010 12:35

Aww thats a shame pluperfet I will definately have to have a look though next time I'm in England! Apparently you can get quite good home stuff aswell, I'm on a budget!

YummyorSlummy · 01/10/2010 12:36

I actually like the Braces torusers you can get, was thinking of getting some for ds but am so bloody skint I just had to stick to the 6 quid jeans! Maybe next month!

There is always eBay.... I have had a lot of overseas sales from my baby/boy bundles, simply because of this overseas posting problem.

MegBusset · 01/10/2010 13:25

Sainsbury's have got some nice boys' clothes in atm, cheap too. Can't buy online though sadly.

constantlytired · 01/10/2010 13:30

I know exactly what you mean, i really struggle to find nice stuff for my DS...Even having bother just now trying to find a nice warm coat for the winter for my DD (5)...Why are all the nice ones too thin for winter, or the warm ones downright ugly!? Confused

pluperfect · 01/10/2010 13:36

I know, constantlytired! The worst is when the clothes are not meant to be ugly, but bloody are!

ilikewine · 01/10/2010 13:39

The girls clothes in next this year is not that great either, trust me.

Spinkle · 01/10/2010 13:44

Next have been steadily chavvier recently. I just like ordinary boys stuff. I like the stuff for younger boys but as soon as you hit 5yrs the stuff is well ropey.

Pages and bloody pages of pink frilly shit but bugger all decent stuff for boys.
