Not an AIBU, more of a 'what do you think'

Wasn't sure where the best place to put this was, so stuck it in here as I have a feeling it may create a bit of a debate. I was reading on another forum(NM) about a woman who had created an anonymous post to seek advice about her violent relationship. She is pregnant. The forum administrators contacted her midwife about her situation, without informing her, and she is now being seen by SS.

What is your opinion on this? Should they have contacted her midwife? Should they have told her that they were going to do so? Do forum owners have a duty of care to their users or should they simply offer advice as to the avenues of rl support?

nm took a judgement call.advice given is if concerned about protection of a vulnerable adult to report statutory agency - and nm did.frankly i would hope mn would take same line. actually someone on mn did get reported in rl,poster saw her posts and reported them in rl

mrspnut,you are all over the shop with your interpretation. a non statutory agency doesn't invoke s47. sw manager and senior practitioners invoke s47 based upon assessment and information received.and liaise with the others in mdt

Mrspnut, I think that it's highly likely you have somewhat exagerated your previous and current job descriptions and are possibly, hastily gathering snippets of information from google.

It's the only possible scenario. If your roles past and previous are as you say then it worries me.

I hope that the end result is that the lady and her baby are safe and that the bastard who is beating her up gets what is coming to him.
