to think that Next Courier shouldnt leave my deliver inside my brown bin

Well am I?

To make matters worse, I had smashed an empty jar of madras sauce on the drive this morning when I was walking to the bin so I just picked it up and put it in the bin, but there was bits of madras sauce on the broken glass. The bin stinks.

I hadnt put any delivery instructions on my order but they could have hid them behind the bins or put them in the shed which is unlocked.

mumof2children · 27/09/2010 22:06

yanbu, i would complain about it.

slugz · 28/09/2010 07:11

I'm a Next courier, rubbish recepticles are not allowed as storage places. Too much chance they'll be put out for the bins by mistake.
Only officially allowed places are, enclosed porch, shed, garage, greenhouse, other enclosed space. Most couriers will put over locked gates as well.

RandyRussian · 28/09/2010 07:18

Couriers should only use the brown bin for organic stuff Grin

HecateQueenOfWitches · 28/09/2010 07:20

slugz - what if what's inside breaks as they put it over -high gate? throw? let drop to floor?

nobiggy · 28/09/2010 07:24

SIL had a pair of shoes delivered to the recycling bin, unfortunately it was collection day. When she phoned up they told her it had been signed for, as she had the card saying it was in the bin that didn't really fly.
Our local one typically puts parcels behind the bin. Hidden but not secure.

RustyBear · 28/09/2010 07:25

We had a courier put a book over a locked gate - we found it two years later when we cut down the bush it had fallen into....

snoozathon · 28/09/2010 07:28

Laura Ashley put my delivery in my big black dustbin!

I never complained but suspected sarcasm on behalf of the delivery guys.

Rockbird · 28/09/2010 07:56

Mine always leaves parcels in my recycling box, never the bin. Never had a problem with it and always know where to look.

DaisyDaresYOU · 28/09/2010 07:57

This is why i put delivery instruction online incase it goes to horrible neighbour of mine,or they leave it on doorstep.can you access your back garden easily?id get them to leave it there. That's what i ask them to do so parcels not on show. Not next btw

Sorry double posted

chitchat09 · 28/09/2010 08:00

I once had something popped under our webber bbq, which had a long cover over it. Quite a good spot, I thought!

lottiejenkins · 28/09/2010 08:05

I find they dont always take any notice of instructions...Argos left a parcel on my doorstep instead of at my neighbours, it should have been signed for too and it wasnt! I got my delivery charge refunded!!!

domesticsluttery · 28/09/2010 08:09

The Next courier here leaves parcels in our recycling bins, I didn't realise that they weren't allowed (it was him who suggested it).

The current one is better than the last one though who used to hang the Next bags from your front door handle if you weren't in... really secure!

Northernlurker · 28/09/2010 08:15

I was thrilled last year when the home delivery network numpty man chucked dd2's Christmas present nintendo ds over a high gate on to a concrete surface! I sent it back but the whole thing was a huge pita. So stupid!

LithaR · 28/09/2010 08:20

The Next courier I had ignored the instructions I gave to deliver it to a neighbour and shoved it through my cat flap thus breaking it :/

gingernutlover · 28/09/2010 08:24

YANBU

Our couriers tend to leave things behind my recycling box which is next to my front door. But I wouls assume that unless you have physically signed for something then the courier would have to take responsibilty for anything gone missing. It must leave them wide open to people claiming they havent got the item.

maighdlin · 28/09/2010 10:24

what is it with next couriers? i have heard so many stories about them leaving deliveries in the weirdest places. My instructions are always to leave in the shed. one day i had left my kitchen window open and they put it through the window onto the counter. it was like a reverse robbery. Confused

isitoktodonothing · 28/09/2010 11:20

Sounds like its not that unusual then. I've never had a delivery left in a bin before. Having said that, we've only had our brown bins 6months.

Tell you what though, if I had to return the parcel then how many people would then have to handle it after it had been in a yucky bin. Makes me feel sick.

I complained to Next about my last delivery. I'd asked for delivery on a day when I knew I'd be at home, however the day after the order, I was eating breakfast when I heard the front gate squeak and the bin lid bang shut. I went out to see what had happened and saw a car driving away and found the Next delivery in the recycling bin. He'd stuck a card through the door to say it was in the bin but didn't bother to ring the bell.
Bit of a Hmm one as surely it would have been less effot to ring the bell and hand the package over, than write out a card?
Bloody annoying though, what's the point of offering delivery slots if they ignore them? It was really lucky that I was still at home and it wasn't bin day!

fedupofnamechanging · 28/09/2010 11:37

Another thing with Next is that they've now stopped sending out post office returns forms with your order. You have to phone up and request one or get the courier to collect parcel. It takes away the convenience and ease (am out and about a lot so can't wait around for courier). Once I've sent back this last parcel I intend to cancel my account. Fed up with receiving wrong items/damaged goods as well!

Apologies. Rant over Smile

VivaLeBeaver · 28/09/2010 11:45

My courier also seems to ignore all instructions. I asked for a Friday delivery as I knew I'd be in, they came on Thursday. Left £150 of boots on my doorstep in full view of a busy street. I'm suprised they hadn't been pinched. If I'd been more dishonest I'd have denied receiving them and got a second pair to flog on ebay!

dixiechick1975 · 28/09/2010 11:57

They aren't 'Next' couriers they use independent couriers. eg this week it was hermes.

The courier gets paid a pittence for each delivery. If you are not in they don't get paid to redeliver.

If you ever see the couriers they are just individuals in cars. A retired age man in a G reg car sometimes does ours or a mum in an old car with several small children strapped in i.e people trying to make a bit of extra cash.

They should abide by your instructions and I do tell where they can leave things if i've ever not in if I see them.

My daughter had her next delivery put in her boiler house, she came home from work and turned on the heating and it all got burnt, could have caused a serious fire
