I definitely would.

Maybe twice.

OP posts:

Cornish and Mrs LN -- that last one certainly brings home the whole ugly duckling scenario, as mentioned earlier by Mrs Tim. Bless :)

I am still obssessing about those tattoos. Wouldn't something like that be a liability if he has to go undercover? It's easy to disguise the face, hair etc. but they'd know who he was the minute they removed his vestie.

MrsLucasNorth · 15/10/2010 22:18

Finally - the chance to watch North & South in peace. My God he is yummy in it! Please someone tell me he's not such a Mummy's boy all the way through though?

ASmallBunchofFlowers · 15/10/2010 22:31

I'm still giggling at the Children in Need clips.

"He'll never make you as happy as I could".

MrsLN - If you wait, you will see that he does assert himself with his mama. Have you got to the "look back at me" scene yet? This is why I think Mr Thornton is his yummiest role.

MrsLucasNorth · 15/10/2010 22:37

Have seen 'look back' a couple of times on YouTube. Dd is up with cough & cold and even she is quite enjoying it!
The CIN thing is v. Comical. Can't believe he's still sexy talking about a stuffed bear!

ASmallBunchofFlowers · 15/10/2010 22:52

But it's so much more moving on a decent-sized telly screen (better picture quality too).

And that is the mark of a Great Actor, isn't it? That he can make so much of such slender material.

Anyway, I'll let you get back to swooning.

MrsLucasNorth · 16/10/2010 00:03

You are right smallbunch - just watched the proposal scene - totally different on real tell.
Am also having lots of fun explaining strikes, shillings and lung disease to 6 yo dd who is still awake and full of lurge!

ASmallBunchofFlowers · 16/10/2010 12:32

Yes, MrsLN, it is our Duty As Good Parents to force encourage our daughters to watch N&S on a daily regular basis for its educational value; my own daughter has learnt important lessons about the development of the trade union movement, public healthcare, attitudes towards social mobility and women's place in society. Ahem.

MrsLucasNorth · 16/10/2010 12:45

We're now undoing all that 'hard work' by watching Barbie Mermaidia

ASmallBunchofFlowers · 16/10/2010 12:51

Eeeek. I rue the day I ever let Barbie into this house and the DVDs are the worst.

I need to spend half an hour crawling around the sitting room floor raking up toys and felt pens. I think I may put on the last disc of North and South to help me stay focused on the job.

Theresaholeinyourmind · 16/10/2010 13:12

May I wholeheartedly second the educational value of North and South, especially for someone like me who had ancestors working in the Lancs cotton industry. You can actually see for yourselves how they lived and all that. Ahem again.

ASmallBunchofFlowers · 16/10/2010 13:45

Gah! I left the room for a moment and my dear child had ousted N&S in favour of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. There's GSCE History and Eng Lit down the drain then. Don't say I didn't warn her.

MrsLucasNorth · 16/10/2010 14:18

Barbie was on Nick Jr. I don't think she'd dare touch the dvd after the lecture I gave her before letting her come downstairs with me last night!

PrairieOyster · 16/10/2010 14:30

I quite like Barbie and the Diamond Castle - I think the songs make it tolerable.

But I digress, the proposal scene in N&S is just...just...(collapses on floor)

ASmallBunchofFlowers · 16/10/2010 17:06

Indeed it is, but the 'look back at me' scene is even more so.

Still, at least Mr Rickman provides some compensation in Harry Potter, or should I save that for another thread?

MrsRichardArmitage · 16/10/2010 17:24
ASmallBunchofFlowers · 16/10/2010 17:45

Thank you, Mrs RM. I s'pose you can afford to be kindly disposed towards us weak and feeble women as you are, after all, married to him. Ahem.

ASmallBunchofFlowers · 16/10/2010 18:28

Oops. Sorry for the muspront, MrsRA.

I'm worried about cupcakes, who is clearly traumatised. Has she abandoned us?

MrsLucasNorth · 16/10/2010 18:49

I'll throw in some chilled rose and choccie - where are you cupcakes we miss your filthy mind intellectual debating skills Grin

MrsLucasNorth · 16/10/2010 22:25

Just finished 'North & South'.

"Coming home with me?"

OMG, yes pleeeease! Grin

ASmallBunchofFlowers · 16/10/2010 22:55
MrsRichardArmitage · 16/10/2010 23:01

It's just so beautiful.

ASmallBunchofFlowers · 16/10/2010 23:01

So, MrsLN. Your starter for 10. Sanctity of your marriage vows notwithstanding, Lucas or Mr Thornton?

MrsLucasNorth · 16/10/2010 23:10

Bigamy - there's no 2 ways about it (ironic Grin)

ASmallBunchofFlowers · 16/10/2010 23:10

Oooh, crossed post with MrsRA. You have hit the nail on the head. That is why my heart belongs to North and South and Mr Thornton. It is all just so beautiful. There's a lot going on on Spooks of a Monday evening but rarely, I find, any beauty (except the unrequited passion between Ruth and Harry, maybe or, I concede, Lucas with his chest emotions laid bare).

MrsLucasNorth · 16/10/2010 23:12

Did think Mr Bell was lovely though. If Thornton wasn't 'on the table' as it were, would def have picked him over smug bastard Lennox anyday.
