He has a clicky jaw and I assume a hollow head as even though his mouth is shut I can hear every chew.

And to think that if he is too ill to work he shouldn't be able to cook himself a huge breakfast (and then take it back to bed) and eat a ginormous baguette with cheese and pickle?

Hmm

OK I am. I know. But mondays are my day for total and utter solitude for 6 whole blissful hours......

yes Grin
i hate hearing people chew. it's revolting.

OrmRenewed · 27/09/2010 13:59

It's horrible. Especially when you already narked.

And how he's eating a cornish pasty.

YADNU!!

I can't stand to hear people eating, it's totally disgusting and puts me off my food.

Chil1234 · 27/09/2010 14:01

I don't know why people actually ever thought that man/woman cohabiting in union could ever work, to be honest. Seems only a matter of time before things break down irretrievably over some trivial matter or other. When it gets to the stage where 'chewing' is pissing you off then surely it's time to call it a day?

proudnglad · 27/09/2010 14:02

V funny!

My colleague who sits opposite me insists on eating the world's most crunchy wasabi peas every day at 11am. It sounds like my cat eating his breakfast and is VERY FUCKING LOUD!

Iklboo · 27/09/2010 14:02

BIL sounds like a septic tank being siphoned when he eats. It's disgusting.

ChippingIn · 27/09/2010 14:02

Go into another room - or better still go out. Find a comfy cafe, a new book & a lovely cup of coffee :)

OrmRenewed · 27/09/2010 14:03

chil - normally I can't hear him chew. The DC make too much noise Grin

One of the more memorable reasons my ex-husband threw at me for leaving was 'the way you brush your hair in the morning' Hmm .... I think 'loud chewing' is probably on a par. Call Relate or get a shot-gun.

junkcollector · 27/09/2010 14:49

God YANBU!!! My DH was eating his breakfast in a really prissy passive agressive way this morning cos he was grumpy but didn't have time to pick a row.

bigchris · 27/09/2010 14:52

Yes I'd go out for the day, cinema starbucks etc
also if he's ok to eat all that crap food i'd make him do the school run

MrsMadWriggle · 27/09/2010 14:58

YANBU. I have to put music on if DH is eating.

YANBU I hate having to listen to DP eat and he seems oblivious to the constant withering looks sent his way! It's the eating equivalent of snoring! Angry

mumofthreesweeties · 27/09/2010 15:09

I would just tell him, my DS12 does this and it annoys me to high heaven

GMajor7 · 27/09/2010 15:22

Grrrr! So with you on this one.

DP masticates very loudly and eats every meal as though it were his last.

Impressed with ds 12 mumofthreesweeties Grin

OrmRenewed · 27/09/2010 15:39

I am working at home today (no, really I am working Grin) so can't go out. I just love my day at home alone.... it makes me grumpy when I have to share it.

But audible mastication is teeth-itchingly annoying!

My Dh sloshes. It sounds like a bloody washing machine. He also has to kill each bite - even the peas.

He also seems to delight in shuffling nearer to me or come and slosh loudly near my ear when he's eating.

He thinks I'm being over-sensitive.

I know that if he doesn't mend his sloshy ways I will do something very nasty to him.

Like stop making his meals.

Miffster · 27/09/2010 15:46

God, I thought it was just me who went twitchy when I could hear other people chewing, to the point that after a while I clench my teeth so hard I swear flakes of enamel get ground off my teeth with suppressed rage.

I have a new way of coping, since my dentist told me off, I have tried to channel my irriatation into doing pelvic floor exercises; the more annoying people are, the more I c-l-e-n-c-h.

I recommend it.

ChippingIn · 27/09/2010 15:59

Miffster - that's a good tip Grin

I hate hearing other peoples chewing/sloshing/slurpingg - but then, I suppose most of us do! (hate it that is!!)

atswimtwolengths · 27/09/2010 16:14

I thought it was my ex's way of eating that was driving me demented, then I realised it was the fact he was keeping himself alive by eating...

OrmRenewed · 27/09/2010 16:15

Great Thread!

YANBU

My dh crams food into his mouth so forcefully that I can hear the fork 'ping' against his teeth with every mouthful and have to actually stop myself from strangling him. Grin

frozenmarg · 22/10/2019 04:16

My DH eating crisps sounds like he's crunching on gravel. Literally it makes me want to run as far and fast as possible. TERRIBLE! Also my colleagues eating cereal /apples or anything crunchy. Perhaps we all have misophonia..!?
