to want to thank the lady in a blue mazda on M25

We were travelling on M25 this morning at about 9.30 on the fast lane. Couple of cars before us suddenly slowed down, but the breaks in our car did not work. All I remeber is me shouting at my husband to slow down as I could see us crashing into this convertable blue mazda(not sure about the make). The lady herself was able to break on time and get out of our way by 10 cm...I am still shaking. We were going out for a fun family day and it could have gone soo wrong. We never got a chance to say thank you to her as we had to move out of the motorway all togather, but I have been thinking of that woman all day as I dont think she realised how lucky she was avoiding us at 70ml/h crashing on her back. So whoever you are THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

LadyBiscuit.

And don't try the troll word with me - that doesn't work either.

StealthPolarBear · 27/09/2010 22:10

Answer the question please - what part do you not understand?

If you go into the back of the car in front you are at fault. Automatically.

Morloth · 27/09/2010 22:11

I was thinking exactly the same thing FootLikeATractionEngine but presumably these people passed their first driving test.

LadyBiscuit · 27/09/2010 22:11

I've never thought that was a good idea before foot, but this thread has made me re-evaluate. How the fuck are people like this driving? How are they still alive?

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 27/09/2010 22:12

But you are behaving like a troll ......or don't you believe anything other people tell you unless they agree with you.

Morloth · 27/09/2010 22:13

Angels LadyBiscuit Angels.

Who needs physics when we have angels!

backwardpossom · 27/09/2010 22:13

Tell you what Animation, why don't you go and drive into the rear of someone's car and see who gets the insurance claim...

IMoveTheStars · 27/09/2010 22:13

lordy, this thread's gone batshit!

Grin

Animation, you're a LOON!

"To you drivers then - are you saying that in no circumstances would it be ever possible to plough into the back of another car unless you were driving irresponsibly."

Yes. Yes I am.

The closest I've come to driving into the back of someone is when I've been following a people carrier on the M25 at more than a safe distance. Car in front suddenly swerved to the left revealing a totally stationary queue of traffic in front of me. People carrier obviously wasn't paying attention and had to take evasive action. I managed to emergency stop (stalling in the process, but hey, I'd only just passed my test) without hitting anybody. Thankfully I didn't have a tailgating wanker behind me or there would have been the mother of all pile ups.

FootLikeATractionEngine · 27/09/2010 22:14

Most people drive to a foot in front of their bonnet, though. Zero anticipation.

StealthPolarBear · 27/09/2010 22:14

or don't, take it from people who've been there. A royal mail van drove into the back of me when DS was 5 weeks old. RM paid up without a murmur.

A great idea if you live near motorways, but for a lot of people especially in an area like where I live will never drive on the motorway.

StealthPolarBear · 27/09/2010 22:15

make it a reinforced steel one

IMoveTheStars · 27/09/2010 22:15

nancydrewrocked · 27/09/2010 22:15

Be afraid.

Be very very afraid...

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 27/09/2010 22:16

...with a few angels hovering nearby...

Morloth · 27/09/2010 22:16

But not anywhere near where Animation may be driving because if she runs into it, it will be all your fault for standing there.

IMoveTheStars · 27/09/2010 22:17

This thread's reminded me of my intention to do an advanced driving test..

Animation · 27/09/2010 22:17

Stealth - yes, if you plough into someone you might at faullt when it comes to making a claim on your insurance - but I'm talking about ethics. You're going 70 and the guy in front suddenly stops with no warning - and you plough into him - are you really to blame? NO.

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 27/09/2010 22:17

But I will be fine Morloth...the angels will protect me Grin

scurryfunge · 27/09/2010 22:17

I think OP and Animation may have finally got it.......

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 27/09/2010 22:18

OH FFS YES YOU ARE TO BLAME CAUSE YOU SHOULD HAVE LOOKING WHERE YOU WERE FUCKING GOING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LadyBiscuit · 27/09/2010 22:18

Angels, of course, Morloth!

I am winding up their clockwork wings for my encounter with the North Circular in the morning now. I am aiming to be able to count the pimples on the back of the boy racer's neck who's cruising in front of me :)

scurryfunge · 27/09/2010 22:19

Oh, fuck....spoke too soon. Animation you are seriously mistaken....there are no ethics....just the law and the Highway Code.

borderslass · 27/09/2010 22:20

You're going 70 and the guy in front suddenly stops with no warning - and you plough into him - are you really to blame? NO
Yes you are because you should leave a safe stopping distance between yourself and car in front.
