To think that "The Wright Stuff" can research their own topics

Instead of getting most of them from here, almost every time i watch it like this morning for example i see that they have got their topics from this board, i know this because i am on this web site a lot and so notice when they bring up a subject that i have been reading about, especially if it is a subject that gets tons of replies.

What is the point of the programme having researchers if they just sit on this website and dont bother looking else where, sounds like a cushy job to me!!

yes! was just coming on to moan about that. what a load of crock.

they had the segmenttaken off the sheep's kidney coat Hmm can't stand it, hence rarely watch

fartblossom · 15/09/2010 10:45

Its the wright stuff that led me to here.

Am watching it ATM on sky plus. Dont watch it every day though, but I notice there are things on there from here.

This has been discussed before though and sure will get discussed now.

IMO I think that maybe one of the researchers is a regular on here and honestly thinks some of the topics discussed are worthy of TV. Although he seems to be talking about something on FB, though as Im on here Im only half listening to it.

TBH I often think there are some good discussions and topics on here and that is what the program is, a discussion show. Why not get ideas from here?

MsVelvet · 15/09/2010 10:48

true there are some good discussions on here, which is probably why, but i think well it just seems a little too easy to get so much from here, what if you posted something on here to get advice (i know its a public website so anybody can see it) but then be watching tv on day to see your problem flashed on tv for all to see.. they get paid to research, but its hardly hard work if they are just sitting on mumsnet all day getting ideas from here, i want that job!! how easy it must be haha

They do discuss things from other areas too I believe. Your a researcher where do you go for good topics?

Regarding if it was mine or not, well if I didnt want the world to discuss it I wouldnt post it on here in the first place. Also at least here its fairly annomous (is that spelt right?) so no-one watching it would know its me. Though I could understand why someone may not be too happy if they really didnt want it on there.

loopyloops · 15/09/2010 10:58

I wouldn't have a problem if they just got their ideas from here and left it at that, but he has to have a go at MN and MNers all the time. Apparently we are all SAHMs with nothing better do do than whinge and moan all day long.
I'd strangle the man given half the chance.

Housewife2010 · 15/09/2010 11:07

Maybe their researchers will notice that there are lots of MNetters who lust after Justin Fletcher & will then get him on the panel to get him to discuss his effect on the Nation's Mothers!

MsVelvet · 15/09/2010 11:08

how about they invite some MNetters on to the panel to air their views...hmmm bet that would never happen haha

OP posts:
loopyloops · 15/09/2010 11:14

Oh, I don't know, there are a few judgmental and right-winged MNers, they could hand pick them to go with his views I suppose.

Plumm · 15/09/2010 11:16

You could stop watching The Wright Stuff and stick to MN instead.

Remotew · 15/09/2010 11:21

What channel and what time is 'The Wright Stuff' on?

MsVelvet · 15/09/2010 11:23

to be honest i dont watch it its on in the background as it comes on after the morning cartoons which my daughter watches if she is not at the CM, i start uni next week for 3 years so doubt ill be about when its on, but i always notice when i hear them discussing a subject i have been reading on here.. They never really discuss it properly just half-heartedly anyway before moving on to something else.

c5 from about 9am each morning

I think it's fine for researchers to get stories from here so long as MN is referenced in the show. I'm not sure it always is though.

As daytime fodder I actually think the Wright Stuff is a cut above most - MW's taken a bit of a hammering on here in previous threads but he usually provokes interesting comment from panelists (not nearly as interesting as the debates on MNet though Smile)

Remotew · 15/09/2010 11:33

Ok thanks, will check it out next time I have a weekday off.

muggglewump · 15/09/2010 11:35

I love TWS, it's one of my guilty pleasures.
DD's off sick today so I didn't get to watch.

Matthew is my weird sleb crush.

thesunshinesbrightly · 15/09/2010 12:01

ha ah this is where the thread was hiding! wondered why no one had mentioned the 'the topic pinching tosser'yet.

How anyone can find that man even slightly attractive is beyond me.

thesunshinesbrightly · 15/09/2010 12:03

Also another vote for 'on in the back ground' waiting for Trisha.

fartblossom · 15/09/2010 19:42

Well its better than Jeremy anyway, that has to be a thousand times worse (shudders at the thought)

BitOfFun · 15/09/2010 19:48

How can anybody watch Trasha?

cherylvole · 15/09/2010 19:56

Turn the tv off and read a book. What are you ? Working class?

bigchris · 15/09/2010 20:00

I love it too
some of the panellists are great
I love Anne diamond and it was great when the Tory was on , I forget his name

thesunshinesbrightly · 15/09/2010 20:45

Yes it's crap but i like to settle down after the school run with a cuppa and crappy telly.

NotanOtter · 15/09/2010 20:49

never seen the program as don't watch daytime telly and am blessed in not having channel 5

Matthew Wright is spawn of devils semen - and that's not remotely sexy

BootyMum · 15/09/2010 20:50

I don't think there is anything wrong with watching Trisha. She actually is quite thoughtful in her handling of guests and their issues and she advocates them getting help from trained professionals.
Not like Jeremy Kyle which is like watching bear baiting!

nevergoogle · 15/09/2010 20:53

Grin at cherylvole.
