to sue hotel chain

We were at a well known hotel this afternoon for Sunday lunch, after lunch we were walking through the reception area where DC (13months old) fell and split open their head on the corner of the table (adult shin height) we had to ask the receptionist for medical assistance, all the while DC screaming and blood pouring everywhere.

We had to take DC to A&E where he needed a GA, however because of past expeirence with this, it was then decided that our baby would go through the treatment and the horrid trauma with no pain relief, he needed 1 inner stitch and 2 outer stitches, and next week he will have to endure it all again.

I phoned the hotel to let them know the result, and asked for safety guards on the tables to stop further accidents like this in future, they said the would get back to me, due to the "design" of the lounge Hmm

Everybody has said to sue, as its the only way they know, that this hotel will take action.

I know this from expeirence sadly also with the chain.

However I feel uneasy about it.

sorry you will find I dont own a TV, nonsense and time wasting things, sorry I have shot anybody down, cant say the same for others here tho.

I will state again, even tho you might think IABU, I dont want this to happen again, this chain holds children's parties, has themed rooms for children, etc... alot of parent use this hotel, and I am concerned about it happening again, their is nothing UR in that at all.

Though darling not tho
HTH

hocuspontas · 12/09/2010 17:34

But pinkbasket, if he had stabbed himself in the eye with a fork you wouldn't sugggest to the hotel that they consider plastic cutlery. (You wouldn't, would you? Grin

ilovemydogandMrObama · 12/09/2010 17:35

What sort of tables are they? I can imagine if the tables were glass, for instance, and about toddler height, there may be a case to answer as it would not have been visible.

But just because a person is injured doesn't automatically mean there has been negligence although can understand wanting to blame someone.

If you are really concerned, then write to the head of corporate affairs outlining what happened.

durga · 12/09/2010 17:35

What hotel chain was it?

durga · 12/09/2010 17:35

Televisions have corners as well, best kept out of the way of children

rainbowinthesky · 12/09/2010 17:37

What I dont get is why the op doesnt feel she and her dh were responsible??

MisSalLaneous · 12/09/2010 17:37

OP, on the "adults have cut their legs on them" comment - I take it you avoid cars / too. You should see what has happened to adults in those!! When, you know, they had an accident.

hocuspontas · 12/09/2010 17:37

lol at tiger!

ShadeofViolet · 12/09/2010 17:38

What BALD said.

This has to be a joke thread - if not I think the shock has addled your brain.

YABU - but then you know that, dont you?

fuschiagroan · 12/09/2010 17:39

Maybe other parents will realise they should hold onto their babies a bit better...

Biscuit
BooBooGlass · 12/09/2010 17:41

So you've had time to have your sunday lunch, go to the hospital and endure this ordeal, then ring the hotel and complain, then come on here and complain about it? Biscuit Try harder next time

BelligerentGhoul · 12/09/2010 17:43

WHY are you on an aibu thread, when all you want to do is tell us you're not being unreasonable?

VivaLeBeaver · 12/09/2010 17:43

If he was with your DH nad you say that your DH didn't react in time then you should sue your DH. Maybe he should keep a closer eye on him, either that or you need to accept that accidents happen.

No way should you sue the hotel, neither do I think the hotel should have to babyproof their tables.

hocus - no I wouldn't Grin but now that an accident has happened it is only right that changes are considered.
