larks35 · 10/09/2010 23:17

is this someone you know or just another hyped media story?

BunnyLebowski · 10/09/2010 23:17

Eh???

ShirleyKnot · 10/09/2010 23:17

bore off

Mniemmniem · 10/09/2010 23:18

People cope with things very differently. My mum drank when times got hard, but she's still a brilliant mum so...

booyhoo · 10/09/2010 23:18

none of yours, poelp deal with stress difrrntly.

2shoes · 10/09/2010 23:18

oh do go shag a sheep

larks35 · 10/09/2010 23:19

tbh, in a light-hearted way I'm blooming impressed that any woman would be able to go out on the piss post birth!

ronshar · 10/09/2010 23:22

Probably better than when baby gets home!

mumof2children · 10/09/2010 23:23

sorry if this offends, i just can't think why a mum with a baby who is ill in hospital going out.

OP posts:
sleepysox · 10/09/2010 23:29

Poor mother, probably needs a break from all the stress of having a prem baby. I had a baby in NICU and it is no fun at all. Give the poor woman a break. Concentrate on your own life and not on hers.

CommonSenseSuze · 10/09/2010 23:32

Have I missed something? How do we know it's not the dad?

CommonSenseSuze · 10/09/2010 23:32

Oh! Because it says "HER"! Sorry! Blush

so if the baby needed emergency treatment, how can a drucken mother make a choice.

OP posts:
MissMarjoribanks · 10/09/2010 23:35

Oh do piss off.

I had a prem baby and went out on the piss one night he was in there. One out of 27 nights, I should add. I wasn't sure whether to go or not and the nurses told me in no uncertain terms that I should take the opportunity to unwind. I was planning to attend said event anyway, but expected to be pregnant and sober. As it was I could have a few drinks and truly relax and felt much the better for it.

booyhoo · 10/09/2010 23:36

so you knoe ahe was driunk and not jsut having adrink/

thelunar66 · 10/09/2010 23:36

thelunar66 · 10/09/2010 23:37

I remember when mumsnet was all bumsex of a friday

ChaoticAngel · 10/09/2010 23:39

Why can't the father make a choice about any emergency treatment that may be required? Hmm

mumof2children · 10/09/2010 23:39

i am sorry but i would rather ask here, than say in real life i am not a bitch but if i think that something is nor right i am glad about the responce from here, even if they say iabu

scaredoflove · 10/09/2010 23:43

Oh dear - having a child in hospital for weeks on end is actually very boring (in a strange way)

You spend hours just watching, then go home and sit on the sofa and twiddle your thumbs

Good luck to the partying mum - having a child in scubu doesn't mean you stop living

Just13moreyearstogo · 10/09/2010 23:44

Change your OP to 'going out for a drink' and things become easier to understand. I wouldn't condone the parent rolling onto the ward drunk but I very much doubt that's going to happen - social services would be called. A drink to unwind, a night out with friends - that all sounds OK if the baby is being cared for on a ward.

mumof2children · 10/09/2010 23:48

i am sorry, maybe i do not realise the pressures of having a baby born prem.

i will reapeat but i just can't understand it, so when i am wrong (like i know you ladies to do) than i thank you

well done OP for realising that you were unreasonable
