That's all really.

Is there a reason why they aren't?

foreverastudent - your post should be pulled.

barmyarmy might have hit a nerve with you, but his opinions are not illegal.

I don't apply for jobs where they don't mention the salary.

If it was an attractiuve one, they'd mention it.

In my trade I know the range, and I know where I fit. I like to say that if I was in the market selling tomatoes, I'd make sure i knew the going rate for tomatoes before I started selling them.

YANBU, and I agree exactly with PigletJohn. The idea of a job ad is to attract the right candidates to apply. Therefore if the salary is an attractive element of the job, it will be given, or at least a range will be.

If the salary they are planning to pay is unlikely to help attract people, that's when they say '£competitive' or something stupid like that in a job ad.

I seem to recall some research that suggested that women were put off applying for jobs with high salaries because we undervalue ourselves; so not mentioning a salary could be an attempt at attracting female applicants?

Of course, the research is probably out of date by at least a generation, if I recall it.
