JjandtheBeanlovesUnicorns · 03/09/2010 00:38

walk in the park really, two planned sections, i picked the date and time, much like having ones hair done,

and ofc i never walked like a granny or needed morphine at all.

ragged · 03/09/2010 00:42

Didn't you fart like a Slitheen afterwards, though, Jjand?

JjandtheBeanlovesUnicorns · 03/09/2010 00:49

yeah, that was fun, kept expecting my stitches to blow open

QuizteamBleakley · 03/09/2010 07:49

Oh, what have I done... Am 26wks pg with our first (due on my birthday: "What did you get for your birthday"? "Dilated.") - having read this am off to gaffer-tape up me nethers! Grin

Supercherry · 03/09/2010 08:00

The contractions hurt so much with DS1 (back to back) I wanted someone to either kill me or chop my hand off to take my mind off it.

With DS2, the contractions were completely manageable but got very very intense at the end and the actual delivery was like someone setting fire to my nether regions. The episiotomy scar that was left from DS1 tore open again though.

Librashavinganotherbiscuit · 03/09/2010 08:05

According to my DH my labour wasn't that bad (Hmm) so OP apparently YANBU.

stealthpony · 03/09/2010 08:07

I am weird. I must admit I absolutely LOVE giving birth! It's them most amazing feeling in the world. I'm fortunate that my 3 all happened pretty quickly. My first was an epi so I didn't feel a thing, my second i missed my chance because she came pretty fast in 3 hours but I discovered the glory that is gas and air, my third pretty much the same as the 2nd an hour less.

The contractions are mental but in-between you're off in a pretty special land with that gas and air...it's fantastic stuff!

Shodan · 03/09/2010 08:38

I found an induced labour without an epidural so painless that I even found time to compose and perform my own aria.

I think everyone appreciated it.

edam · 03/09/2010 08:48

I'm with supercherry, I seriously wanted someone to kill me if that's what it took to make the pain go away. Was in a midwife-led unit so no epidurals available. My poor sister had an epidural that only took on one side. So she was in agony on her left and felt nothing on her right. Bizarre and horrible, apparently.

NewbeeMummy · 03/09/2010 09:54

Mine didn't hurt at all...

I was pumped full of drugs from the start :)

Fizzywinelover · 03/09/2010 09:59

Grin Shodan

JenaiMarrHePlaysGuitar · 03/09/2010 10:14

God I'm so glad to hear that others had horribly painful births with their back-to-back babies.

I mean, I'm not pleased you went through it but it does reassure me that I wasn't just being an utter wimp when I pleaded for the epi.

Ended up with a section so I can't comment on the pushing out bit - but the contractions were insane. G&A didn't even touch the sides and I was literally delirious with the pain. Inbetween the contractions I was OK, though. Until I got really scared because I couldn't believe that contractions that frequent and that strong, over hours and hours, wouldn't be hurting ds.

In the unlikely event that I have another baby, I will welcome my pre-booked CS with open arms Grin

MumNWLondon · 03/09/2010 10:39

YANBU to suggest that for some women in some circumstances childbirth does not really hurt.

hidetheelephant · 04/09/2010 18:22

I think it depends on the person. I expected it to hurt a lot more than it did, but I won't say that the contractions didn't hurt at all. In the beginning I was having big ones and couldn't feel them one bit, but towards the end I could. The pushing didn't really hurt it was over that quick.

RunawayWife · 04/09/2010 18:30

I have two children both born without any pain killers or such and I would say it was uncomfortable more then painful.
The stitches I had after DS1 were more painful then the giving birth

tribpot · 04/09/2010 18:44

Shodan, if this was 5 years ago in Suffolk I think I may have been in the next room to you. Particularly if your aria is called "The Howling Wolf Suite".

I felt terrible for that poor woman. She was howling like a wolf before they started my syntocinon (at which point I thought I was going to die) and after ds had been born 8-ish hours later the poor woman was still howling like a wolf.

The midwife summoned the doc to sew up my tear and I distinctly remember saying "please be very gentle" to which he replied jovially "ha ha ha, they all say that".

I wonder why that is, f*cker! (He was very gentle in his defence, he was just lucky I was immobile and hadn't thought to bring my extendible bollock-crushers with me).

OneTwoBuckleMyShoe · 04/09/2010 19:54

Epidurals are fabulous things Grin

smallisbeautiful · 04/09/2010 19:56

i think it hurts some people as everyone is different, but I actually loved giving birth, I really enjoyed it, I didn't have any drugs and just breathed my darling babies into the world! I didn't scream or swear either, altho I am a shouter in rl!

ladymarian · 04/09/2010 22:49

Sadly ime YABU!

For me it hurt like hell, I thought I was going to die and none of the drugs took the pain away. The bedsheets looked like they had been used on the set of the texas chainsaw massacre.

I never understand it when people say you forget the pain. I will never forget it as long as I live!!!

tittybangbang · 04/09/2010 23:02

Oh gosh YANBU

I gave birth to an 11lbs baby with no analagesia and can attest to the fact that it did sting a bit.

Wink
tittybangbang · 04/09/2010 23:02

Whoops, meant YABVVU

blueshoes · 04/09/2010 23:33

OP, if it is true for you, you must not publicise it otherwise people will think you have a bucket for a pelvis. Bet it did not touch the sides.
