To get annoyed that a middle class life style is not "real life"?

I don't get- why is trying to move to a nice, safe and quiet area with a good school not "real life" as some people like to tell me?

How is this any less "real" that living in a crime ridden, ugly area with an unsafe school?

Seems its only real life if your let your child actually live in the middle of all sorts...

Does anyone else get this attitude sometimes?

Hufsa · 01/09/2010 22:36

Why thank you BarmyArmy. You don't think it sounded racist then I presume?

CheerfulYank · 01/09/2010 22:38

yeah. :) It's just all I could think of on short notice. I'm on a diet and it's making me stupid :o

He's African and people ask him to talk about Africa, and when he speaks of the bustling metropolis he grew up in and his posh boarding school they are Shock...I think they expect him to talk about hunting lions or something. It makes me LOL every time...

My children are fine being sheltered in our cosseted semi-rural idyll. If they want to have an insight into so called reality, they can watch reality tv when they are older Grin.

TheCoalitionNeedsYou · 02/09/2010 09:02

I'd rather live in the worst area in the country that watch reality tv. Yuck.

hmc · 02/09/2010 09:35

Oh I hate reality tv and generally eschew it, but possibly educative for these purposes (i.e. what goes out ... out there!), and a lesser evil than living the experience imo!

TheCoalitionNeedsYou · 02/09/2010 09:38

COLLABORATOR!

TheCoalitionNeedsYou · 02/09/2010 09:40

Watching reality TV is EXACTLY the same as if you were personally mugging passers by and shovelling the money into Simon Cowell's pockets while simultaneously gobbing off Jeremy Kyle and Louis Walsh.

TheCoalitionNeedsYou · 02/09/2010 09:41

I quite like CDMW though.

who (or what) is Louis Walsh?

TheCoalitionNeedsYou · 02/09/2010 10:47

Short, fat, gay, irish bloke who managed Westlife and Boyzone. 'Judge' on X-factor.

About 103.

epicfail · 02/09/2010 11:02

Ta TCNY. He is not on the radar here in ORRRstraylia.

notsue - I have felt physically sick numerous times while reading this thread. I fear your dp has some kind of sex addiction. He sounds totally obsessed. You say he equates sex with love, that is such a cop out. I am not hearing any love in his treatment of you at all.

ccpccp - I think if you took a straw poll here, or anywhere, from women who had been married 11 years and have children, you would find that the frequency of sex in MOST marriages diminishes over time.

epicfail · 02/09/2010 11:04

wrong thread - ignore me - living up to my name.
