AIBU to think men could be a bit more original when it comes to fabcying random women?

Just feeling disappointed with DH and our friend (god-father to our DD).

We recently went out for dinner in a lovely restaurant on the beach, beautiful sunset, the DCs were playing well together on the sand as we sipped our drinks.

Next thing, the waitress came to out table to take our order. She looked like a comic book "sexually attractive woman"...that is to say, very big breasts, very tight vest tee shirt, slim build, tight leggings (complete with camel's toe crotch thingy). To me, she looked very unattractive as she looked.....ahem, cheap, unstylish, obvious. She was not pretty, but she had all the obvious sexual cues.

You know what's coming....DH and his pal were like giggling school boys making all sorts of stupid innuendo about her physique (tits, specifically) and her clothes (all tight, all skimpy).

AIBU to think men are pathetically obvious when it comes to what turns them on?

I'd suggest that the amount of differently sized and shaped women who all seem to be happily attached to men of the opposite gender would suggest "men" are rather more nuanced un their thinking than you give them credit for.

lorelilee
I am not so naive or idealistic that I don't know men lust after women and women lust over men....and inaccessible ones.

I just hoped my DH wouldn't fancy the Katie Price camel toe ones!

franklampoon · 30/08/2010 14:00

you cant help who you fancy.
Wish I could still pull off that look

mayorquimby · 30/08/2010 14:00

Men in finding attractive woman attractive shocker!!!!!!!!!

WhatsWrongWithYou · 30/08/2010 14:16

Sorry but as you go on you're getting more and more mean about the waitress.

And I agree that your DH and his friend were more rude to her than to you, thinking it was okay to snigger and make comments about her.

Should she be wearing a shroud to hide her figure just because she's 'not facially attractive?'

If your DH hadn't reacted the way he did, you wouldn't have thought twice about her 'camel toe' or Katie Price leggings.

greythorne · 30/08/2010 14:21

Oh, I would! I clocked the camel toe myself before DH and his pal.

Minxie1977 · 30/08/2010 14:23

There's a point maybe the facially unattractive should stay home - it's not fair on the rest of us really Wink

MillyR · 30/08/2010 14:32

Maybe I'm just annoyed by this thread because I have large breasts, long legs and leggings but am facially unattractive. So I don't feel it is fair that facially attractive women should be deemed as more acceptable in the working place than me.

Pootles2010 · 30/08/2010 14:37

May i just point out - when you have big boobs, everything bar a burka tends to look 'slutty' or else really frumpy.

MillyR · 30/08/2010 14:42

I agree with Pootles.

WhatsWrongWithYou · 30/08/2010 14:44

Yes, you might have clocked it but I doubt you would have come on here in a blind rage about it.
MillyR, I'm slim with big breasts and long legs, never felt facially attractive, though (although DH has always been complimentary, bless him).
Maybe all those women who look sidelong at me when their husbands clock my assets are thinking the same thing about me?

MillyR · 30/08/2010 14:47

Perhaps in the interests of fairness, if people want me to put some kind of shapeless kaftan over my breasts and legs, I can request that all people who are more facially attractive than me wear a mask while at work, in case their pleasing faces catch the eye of either myself or DH, and cause us to think unfaithful thoughts.

cumfy · 30/08/2010 14:48

YANBU to feel like this.

YABfoolish to think for 1 millisecond that men are going to vary their sexual cues ever.

Posts tending to contradict this appear to be from individuals who are having the wool, lovingly perhaps, pulled over their eyes.

Minxie1977 · 30/08/2010 14:48

It is true that big boobs n camel toe top facially attractive - as one of DH's wanker charmer mates said 'you don't look at the mantelpeice when you're stoking the fire'!! I've been told I'm very pretty but I have a fat arse - my friend once said 'if you lost weight we'd have to watch our husbands' WTF!?! a) I'm happily married b) I'm your friend and would never look at your DH c) Fudge off!

greythorne · 30/08/2010 14:54

cumfy
i think you are right

and now, having thought about it abit more thanks to this thread, I realise that I should be glad DH is just a boring run of the mill bloke who gets turned on by attractive women with ample bosoms.....just started to think, imagine if he fancied some very intellectual, serious, harp playing woman (ie someone like me!) I would be properly threatened!! As it is, I realise that this was just a stupid, ill-timed lust over the classic girl most men would fancy.

Feel much better now!

OP posts:
WhatsWrongWithYou · 30/08/2010 15:07

Oh good, then it was okay that he dis-respected this girl because she was just a booby, brainless, plain waitress?
< and breathe >

Minxie1977 · 30/08/2010 15:11

Who said she was brainless!?! The men giggled and made innuendo - whoopee!!!! Lots of women make cracks about italian waiters pepper mills and it's taken with humour - people fancy people SHOCKER Biscuit

Snobear4000 · 30/08/2010 19:15

That type does nowt for me.

Oblomov · 30/08/2010 20:24

very nasty Op. glad her latest post was a bit better. when dh comments about another woman, 90% of the time, i think she is very attractive aswell. dh likes kelly brook. how could i argue with that, she's totally beautiful.

BettySuarez · 30/08/2010 20:33

greythorne, I would be horrified if my DH behaved in this way but would lay the blame squarely with him and not the waitress.

Time for you and a group of girls friends to arrange a night out to see the Chippendales I think Wink.

Jasonthunderpants · 30/08/2010 20:43

I fancy Penelope K by the way from cbbies
she is hot

cupcakesandbunting · 30/08/2010 20:51

No, Thunderpants. No.

Just no.

My DH has impeccable taste in unattainable women. He likes Eva Mendes and Angelina Jolie and is generally a bit meh about glamour model types. I feel that this reflects very well on my good self. Grin

Jasonthunderpants · 30/08/2010 20:56

Nothing wrong with Penelope K. Dont know who
Eva Mendes is
In my younger days I used to fancy Delia Smith when she appeared on her show wearing marigolds
sometimes when I am washing up I get a funny little feeling as I remember her

cupcakesandbunting · 30/08/2010 20:59

You must google Eva. I challenge any straight male to not fancy her.

Delia I get. Penelope K looks like Jaja Binks in a ginger wig. But then I fancy Sportacus and Andy from Sid 'n' Andy :(

Sammyuni · 30/08/2010 21:02

Of course what turns people on differs obviously for the men your speaking about the image of the waitress appealed to them but that does not mean it appeals to all men. Some like slim small breasted women, some like chubby soft feeling women. And the differences with what appeals to women occurs as well like some women like really muscular men whilst others prefer not so much muscle etc. It is difficult to generalise i think the problem here tough is that your DH was ridiculous enough to do that kind of behaviour especially right in front of your face.
