to take DD to the supermarket in her sleepsuit?

DD is 16 months old, although looks about 6 months due to her small size. I haven't got around to getting her dressed yet today and can't find the energy to do so. However, I have to go out to the supermarket to pick some things up for my neighbour. Should I really get off my arse find some enthusiasm and dress her first, or will I just look like a mum who dresses her PFB for comfort?

Nope - comfy, warm, happy.

Who cares what anyone else thinks?

dinkystinky · 24/08/2010 13:50

I dont think it really matters to be honest. If you cant be bothered to get her dressed, then take her out as she is.

kreecherlivesupstairs · 24/08/2010 13:59

As long as she is clean and comfortable it doesn't really matter does it?

mumwifemaggie · 24/08/2010 14:46

Adults in their PJ's is a common look around here, babies in sleepsuits are quite tame! Go for it, comfort always wins in my book Smile

cheesesarnie · 24/08/2010 14:47

why is everyone suddely so bothered about what babies wear!ofcourse its ok!

bellavita · 24/08/2010 14:49

I am with cheesesarnie on this, it is a baby - who bloody well cares?

Psammead · 24/08/2010 14:49

She's a baby. Is she comfortable? Is she happy? Is she clean?

bronze · 24/08/2010 14:50

still a baby. Of course its fine

BlueFergie · 24/08/2010 15:01

God to be honest I don't even worry about the clean bit anymore. Comfortable, happy and weather appropriate? Tick, tick, tick. Good to go. If the dirt is particularly noticable I have a go at it with a wipe but that it.

I was brought up in a house where everyone had to be dressed before breakfast. I guess it just feels daring to have her still in pyjamas at 2pm. I chickened out in the end and got her dressed. Ho hum.

galena.go and put your pjs on.just to feel what its like to cook dinner in pjs!(not that ive done it since dc were very very tiny!-but please just once!the world wont end!)

Millicentipede · 24/08/2010 15:16

It doesn't matter what babies wear! As long as they are comfortable, obviously.

minipie · 24/08/2010 15:22

Why does it matter? I've never really noticed the difference between babies's sleep clothes and their day clothes TBH.

notagrannyyet · 24/08/2010 15:22

Mine have been shopping in sleep suits. They have also been to older DC school concerts, parents evenings, new school open evenings, etc......As others have said it doesn't matter what a baby wears.

terryble · 24/08/2010 15:23

My babies have crawled around in just a t-shirt at home, until I got them ready to go out and dressed. Dressed in a baby-gro, that is!

Going out with a small baby can be challenging enough. Don't make it harder with unnecessary clothes changing. That's time you could be mumsnetting instead.

zingzillachinchilla · 24/08/2010 15:27

Ah, I love them in their snuggly sleepsuits. Fast forward a few months and the only option is teenage clothing (OK, possibly a teeny exaggeration, but you get my point).

Wouldn't mind coming to work in a sleepsuit, would make life SO much easier, but it might be Blush or even deviant Grin

You may get asked to leave though, its a serious offence these days, sleepwear in supermarkets! They are clamping down!

BreastmilkDoesAFabLatte · 24/08/2010 15:43

She'll be fine. Enjoy the supermarket trip...

LeslieWinkle · 24/08/2010 15:51

I've just been to a shopping centre mall with my DD in her sleepsuit and it didn't dawn on me to get her 'dressed'.
In fact I now realise that in her 9 weeks of life she has only worn pj's. Should I be dressing her? Its never occurred to me, she is still so little.
(I did dress my 18mo btw)

tassisssss · 24/08/2010 15:55

(One of the things I like most about winter is that you can pop littlies in their snowsuits and no-one knows what they're wearing underneath!)

Galena · 24/08/2010 15:56

Leslie, at 9 weeks it wouldn't worry me. But DD is 16 months. :)

I think our family takes it too far. Went to collect DD(15) from PGL week away to find her waiting to be collected still wearing her PJ's. She said she was comfy, so what?

I have also been known to throw a jumper over PJ's to collect offspring. Saves the washing.

DS(13) refuses to wear anything other than a T shirt and boxers while indoors, regardles of who is in (including DD's mates).

DH is in his dressing gown within 10 minutes of returning home from work, every day.

We are the slobtastic familee.
