Are we really producing ever more kids with these conditions or do parents simply need to take back control and realise that, at times, all kids can be obnoxious, loud, defiant, restless and fidgety and that strictly enforced rules for behaviour, lots of TLC, and the occasional smack on the bum may be the way forward?

There is also the probability that there are more experts about than in our day. my db was probably ADHD even now he does things what most 43 year olds wouldn't contemplate he was referred to as the class clown and failed miserably at school but give him something practical and he's brilliant.

The OP and his cronies think we are all talking bollocks .....so let's start talking bollocks......and stop feeding the troll.

Once upon a time, in a land far away there lived a handsome frog and an ugly princess.....

NorwegianBlue · 22/08/2010 22:31

Tiredmum, funnily enough I think that in a large No of cases that is exactly what happens.

2shoes · 22/08/2010 22:32

who crossed a bridge so that they could kill the troll

Tiredmumno1 · 22/08/2010 22:32

the frog kissed the princess and turned her into a toad

wasuup3000 · 22/08/2010 22:33

The toad was called Norwegian Blue

2shoes · 22/08/2010 22:33

blue was its' fave color as it supported chelsea

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 22/08/2010 22:34

The toad decided she had better things to do than be kissed by halitosis laden idiots with delusions of grandeur so set off on a journey to find the meaning of life

Tiredmumno1 · 22/08/2010 22:34

Dont be fecking stupid, are you a doctor.

and that caught you out as docs - ie. gp's dont diagnose these things ime.

2shoes · 22/08/2010 22:35

so she went to a book store to get a dictonary

wasuup3000 · 22/08/2010 22:35

was it a for additives?

wasuup3000 · 22/08/2010 22:35

or b for bananas?

wasuup3000 · 22/08/2010 22:35

or c for crazy cows?

ouryve · 22/08/2010 22:36

And now Norwegian blue goes round in circles, giving a good reason why correct diagnosis and appropriate medication of ADHD is important, since many undiagnosed adults (who grew up in the days before so many cases were diagnosed, astonishingly) do self medicate with caffeine, alcohol or something less than legal.

2shoes · 22/08/2010 22:36

do you remember blue cow?

katiestar · 22/08/2010 22:36

Lougle wrote'Rather takes the shine off the whole thread when pesky things like facts and statistics get in the way of good old judginess, doesn't it?'

I think you are talking rubbish.First you say your DD has undiagnosed ADHD giving examples of her behaviour. When I suggested the things you were citing were not uncommon among children of 4 years old, you start spouting statistics about the distribution of statements and special school places and how it is rare for a 4 yo to have oner .You then go on to reveal that your DD has other brain disorders. These disorders are presumably the reason for the ss place and statement rather than the undiagnosed ADHD.I am therefore struggling to see what your statistics are proving or adding to the debate.

Tiredmumno1 · 22/08/2010 22:37

things like adhd - sorry

NorwegianBlue · 22/08/2010 22:37
