Judgey Pants or Not:: Taking a 7 mo out to lunch in their pyjamas

QueenSconetta · 21/08/2010 21:51

...on the basis they have a cough and have been up since 2am with it.

I just wouldn't. Surely if they're too ill to have clothes put on them they're too ill to go out?

Or has my mother just drilled the 'if you're too ill to go to school, you're too ill to go out to play' mentality into too hard?

what is wrong with pyjamas? if teh baby is 7 months old they are hardly likely to give a damn what they are wearing as long as they are warm.

autodidact · 21/08/2010 21:54

A 7 MONTH old? Not a 7 year old? There isn't always that much difference between pyjamas and dayclothes at 7 months, surely!

paisleyleaf · 21/08/2010 21:54

Does a sleepsuit count?

Jojay · 21/08/2010 21:56

Eh? Who's in the pyjamas? The baby or the parents?

If it's the baby, YABU. If it's the parents, it's a bit weird I agree. Getting dressing isn't that hard is it?

Rindercella · 21/08/2010 21:56

I frequently take my 5 month old out in her sleepsuit//PJs/whatever. She is hardly likely to notice or mind.

You must surely mean 7 year old?

Jojay · 21/08/2010 21:56

Dressed even..........

QueenSconetta · 21/08/2010 21:56

Yeah, I guess I must just have quite tight fitting judgey pants.

OP posts:
cornsillkk · 21/08/2010 21:56

I would.

booyhoo · 21/08/2010 21:56

lots of my 15 month olds pyjamas look just like little cotton two pieces. i have no issue with taking him out in them because they are very comfy for him as opposed to jeans or 'harder' fabrics.

muggglewump · 21/08/2010 21:58

It's a 7 month old, they don't need to wear clothes, and that's coming from someone who put outfits on their DD from day 1.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 21/08/2010 21:58

You mean a 7 month old! OMG who cares what they wear, it's a baby.

LynetteScavo · 21/08/2010 21:58

It depends where they are having lunch. If at a friends house, quite fine, IMO. But even babies should get dressed to lunch at the Ivy. Wink

My babies quite often came on the school run in PJ's when they were perfectly well.

Goblinchild · 21/08/2010 21:59

What an odd question, OP.
You are free to dress your child in whatever abomination you choose for lunch or dinner, why on earth does it matter what a 7mo wears as long as it's warm and comfortable?
When they are a bit ill, sometimes fresh air and a new environment helps, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes they sleep when they can't in a cot.

sloanypony · 21/08/2010 22:01

Hahaha

My 2nd child lived in sleepsuits until she was about uh...well 7 or 8 months I suppose, at least Blush ... I'd just chuck a cardigan over the top if it was clean. I found if they were in the pushchair with cosytoes, or in the car seat infant carrier jobby, then you couldn't blimmin tell anyway and any effort to dress them was "wasted" if it was actually for other people's benefit.

Hahahah. Sorry. I guess I'm a slattern.

Rindercella · 21/08/2010 22:01

Tbh, some days I would never get out of the house if I had to actually get DD2 into some outdoor clothes. Don't think it makes me a bad parent.

Agree with Lynette though, if we were off to The Ivy then DD2 would have to get properly dressed Grin

AnyFuleKno · 21/08/2010 22:01

a baby? you're loopy. What business is it of yours anyway?

QueenSconetta · 21/08/2010 22:02

Goblinchild, it doesn't really matter to me, each to their own absolutely.

Just thought it would be something inane to talk about on a Saturday night with DP on nightshift and DD in bed, x.

Err I got slated all the time by my DM and DMIL who desperately wanted to dress mine up in frilly crap dresses. They acually lived full time in either babygros or vests until they were mobile Grin

QueenSconetta · 21/08/2010 22:14

Lol Maryz, x.

RonansMummy · 21/08/2010 22:18

mine is usually dressed as a ladybird or superman, or just his nappy because he gets hot easily and dribbles LOADS

deemented · 21/08/2010 22:19

DS3 is 7 months old and i realised today that i've actually only dressed him in 'proper' clothes once, and that was when we went to meet another MNer. He lives in vests and babygros and cardigans.

YABU.

ThatDamnDog · 21/08/2010 22:19

For a casual luncheon at that age DS would generally wear slacks, a polo shirt and a light blazer. I did have brogues for him but I don't really approve of shoes on babies who aren't walking.

2kids2dogsandahorse · 21/08/2010 22:20

Do 7mo actually have pyjamas? Hmm

booyhoo · 21/08/2010 22:20

Grin at deemented, only MNers are worthy of full atire!!
